11 Using Y our M iF i D evice f or the F irst Time IMPORT ANT! The MiF i 2200 Device requires an activated account in order t o function. Inser ting and Charging the Batt er y NO TE The batt er y should be fully charged bef ore using the MiF i 2200 Device for the first time.

15 ➍ On the MiFi Device Setup Wizar d Ser vice Activation screen, click Y es if you already hav e an Acc ount# and MSID . Click ing No launches Virg in Mobile’ s Accoun t Creation portal where you are prompt ed to set up an accoun t. ➎ Click Next .

21 The Home P age The Home page is the rst screen y ou see af ter logging in and is the main point of entry for all your work. The Menu Bar The menu bar runs horizontally along the top of the MiF i Device Settings inter face.
22 Home P age S ections The Home page is divided into two sections that you can e xpand or collapse. Click the solid black pointer next to the section title to expand or collapse that section. Internet Connection The Internet Connection section tells you: • Y our connection status.
23 Wi-F i The Wi-F i sec tion tells y ou: • The prole curr ently in use. • The network name (also known as the SSID). • The security method in use. • The number of users currently c onnected to your MiFi Devic e. • The IP address of and subnet mask f or the W i-Fi network.

25 W i-F i M enu The Wi-F i menu has three components: • W i-Fi Pr ofiles — to view or change settings for y our secure prole or to set up a temporary hotspot. • MA C Filter — t o allow only certain devices to connect to your MiF i Device, based on their MA C addresses.
26 W i-Fi P roles Click Wi-Fi Proles on the Wi-F i menu to congure your secur e prole or set up a temporary hotspot. The Wi-F i Prole page displa ys the follo wing information: • Profile — The prole currently being used . [See Choosing a Prole (page 27.
27 • Channel — The radio channel that the device is using . This should be usually set to A uto (default) and left unchanged. Av ailable channels are 1 through 11. • Security — The type of security the prole is using. This applies to the secure and the temporary hotspot proles.
28 Setting Up a T emporary Hotsp ot Y ou can use this prole t o create a secur e temporar y hotspot to allow a maximum of ve connections to your MiF i Device at one time.
29 MA C F ilter MA C ltering allows y ou to limit access t o your MiF i Device to only those devices with a specied MA C address (a unique code assig ned to hardwar e such as network adapters). The MA C Filter page allo ws you to enable or disable M AC ltering and to add or delete M AC addresses from the trust ed client list.
30 F inding the MA C Address The MA C Address is also known as a hardware or ph ysical address for a devic e, usually a network adapter . I t consists of six pairs of numbers and letters (f or example, 00-21-9B-1C-64-34).
