3 Overview Z-W ave™ Thermostat The Z-W av e™ thermostat provides f or typical ther mostat control of a central heating and cooling HV AC system plus has the added f eature of Z-W av e™ communications f or remote control. The ther mostat has a large , backlit gr aphical display , control b uttons, status LEDs and a temperature sensor .

5 Operation Thermostat Contr ol Buttons The Thermostats buttons are “Soft K eys” meaning that they change functions when you change screens . The function of the button is defined b y “on-screen labels” that are dynamic and change when you change screens .

13 Main Menu The Thermostat has a menu tree that can be accessed by pressing the “Menu” button on the Main Thermostat screen. V arious configurations of the Ther mostat can ha ve diff erent screen contents. The first screen that will come up is the Menu Selection screen.
Thermostat User Guide 27 Schedules Schedules is an optional menu item. It will only show up in the menu list if “Schedules” is enab led in the Installer settings f or the ther mostat (See page 23). Provides f or local schedule control. The Schedules Screen allows you to re vie w and set the setback schedule f or the thermostat.

T o set the Time and Date, mov e the cursor with the navigation arro ws until the data you w ant to change is highlighted. Using the + and – buttons to increment or decrement the data to the desired setting.
Filter Service 27 Filter Service The Filter Ser vice screen will show the accum ulated Filter Runtime hours as well as the Ser vice Interval that will be used to trigger a Filter Message. Any type of HV A C operation that causes the HV A C system f an to r un will cause the Filter Runtime v alue to increase.
Thermostat User Guide 27 Maint Service The Maintenance Ser vice screen will show the accum ulated Heat and Cool Runtime hours as well as the Ser vice Interval that will be used to trigger a Maintenance Message. Any HEA T or COOL type of HV AC operation will cause the respectiv e Runtime v alues to increase.
Sensor Calibration 27 Sensor Calibration The Sensor Calibration screen allows y ou to change the temperature calibr ation of the inter nal temperature sensor .
Thermostat User Guide 27 Bac klite/Display The Backlite/Displa y screen allo ws you to set the Bac klite timeout and contrast. Backlite Timeout: Sets the time from last button press that the bac klite will timeout and turn off. The timeout v alue is adjustable from 0 or 20 to 120 seconds .
Thermostat Info 27 Thermostat Inf o The Thermostat Info screen displa ys the current configuration of the Z-W A VE Ther mostat. This inf or mation is useful f or quick chec k of firmware versions and HV AC system setup . It also shows the Zwa v e network setting.

Do not change any settings in this screen unless you are a qualified service technician. Changing these settings will aff ect the operation of the heating/cooling system.
