8 4 Operating Y our Snow Thr ower Now that y ou hav e set up your snow throw er for operation, get acquainted with its controls and f eatures. These are descr ibed below and illustrated this page. This knowledge will allow y ou to use your new equipment to its fullest potential.

Shift Cable If the full r ange of sp eeds ( for ward and reverse) c annot be achi eved, refer to the figure to the lef t and ad just the shif t cab le as follows : 1 . Place the s hif t lever in the faste st for ward speed posit ion.
13 5 Drive Control When th e drive contro l is releas ed and in th e diseng aged “up ” posit ion, the c able sh ould have very lit tle s lack. I t should N OT be tight. Check t he adjust ment of the dr ive control a s follows : 1 . With t he drive contr ol release d, push th e snow thrower gentl y forward.

16 A ug ers • The auger s are secured to t he spira l shaf t with t wo shear pins a nd cot ter pins. If t he auger shoul d strike a foreign ob ject o r ice jam, t he snow thrower is des igned so that th e pins may shear .
