14 Installation Obtaining a pr efer r ed pr ojected image size The pr ojected image size is determined b y the distan ce fr om the projector lens t o the screen, the zoom setting, and the video f ormat. W1070+ is eq uipped with mo va ble lens. See ‘Shif ting the projection lens vertically (W1070 + only) for de t ail s.
15 Installation Shifting the pr ojection lens vertically (W1070+ only) The ve r tical lens shift control pr ovides flexibil ity for in stalling your pr ojector . It allows the pr ojector to be positioned slightly abov e or below the top level of the pr ojected images.
16 Connection Connection When connecting a signal source to the pr ojector , b e sure to: 1. T urn all equipment off befor e making any connections. 2.
17 Connection Connecting with video equipment Y ou need only connect the pr ojector to a video source de vice using just one of the connecting methods.
18 Connection Connecting smar t devices The pr o jector can pr ojec t the content directly fr om a MHL compatible smar t device. Using an HDMI to Micr o USB cable or an HDMI to Mi cro USB ada pto r , you can connect your smart devices to the projector a nd then enjoy your content on the big screen.
19 Connection Connecting component-video devices The RCA type component video jacks are pr ovided fo r connection to video output devices. Y ou should also connect the separate audio ca ble to a suitable audio amplif ier . Connecting video devices Connect your video de vic e to the projector with a co mposite video cable.
20 Connection Connecting a computer Connect the projector to a computer with a V GA cable . Many la ptops do not turn on their external video ports when connect ed to a projector . Usually a key combination like Fn + F3 or CR T/ LCD key turns the e xternal display on/o ff.
21 Operation Operation Star ting up the pr ojector 1. Plug the power cable into the projector and into a pow er outlet. T urn on the pow er outlet switch (wher e fitted). The PO WER indicator light on the pr ojector lights orange after po wer has been applied.

23 Operation Securing the pr ojector Using a security cable lock The pr ojector has to be installed in a safe place to prev ent theft. Otherwise , purchase a lock, such as the K ensingto n lock, to secur e the projector . Y ou can locate a K ensington lock slot on the projector .
24 Operation If y ou forget the passw ord If you enable the passw ord function, you’ll ha ve to enter your passw ord each time you turn on the projector . O nce you enter an incorr ect p a ssw ord, the err or message displa ys, and the Input Passw ord window fo llows.
25 Operation Changing the passw ord T o do this, f irst and foremost, y ou hav e to access the Advanced OSD menu (see 30 for d eta ils ). 1. 26 Operation Selecting an input sour ce The pr ojector can be connected to multiple equi pment at the same time . Howe ver , it only displa ys one full screen at a ti me . When star ting up , the projector automaticall y searches for the a vailable signals.
27 Operation Adjusting the pr ojected image Adjusting the pr ojection angle The projector is equipped with a qu ick-release ad juster foot an d a rear adj u ster foot. These adj usters change the image height and projection angle. T o adjust the pr ojector : 1.
28 Operation Corr ecting k eystone K eystoning refe rs to the situation where the pr ojected image is noticeably wider at either the top or bottom. It occurs when the projector is not perpendicular to the screen. Y ou ma y correct this in ONE of these wa ys.
29 Menu Functions Men u Functions About the OSD Menus T o let you mak e various adjustments or settings on the projector and the projected image , th e projector is equipped with 2 types of m ultili ngual On -Screen Displa y (OSD) menus: • Basic OSD menu: pr ovides primary menu functions.
30 Menu Functions If y ou intend to switch fr om the Basic OSD menu to the Advanced OSD menu, follow the instructio ns below: Use the arr ow k eys ( / / / ) on the projector or remote contr ol to mov e through the menu items, and use OK to confirm the selected men u item.
31 Menu Functions Using the Basic OSD men u Depending on whether or not an y video sign al is connecte d to the projector , the Basic OSD menu offers differ ent a vailable functions.
32 Menu Functions Vo l u m e Adjusts the v olume level of the projector's internal s peaker or the v olume being output fr om the audio output jack. If the Mute function is activated, ad justing V olume will turn off the Mute function. The function is accessible thr ough the remote control.
33 Menu Functions • HDMI Fo r m a t Selects an input sour ce type for the HDMI signal. Y ou can also manually select th e sour ce type . The differ ent source types car r y different standards for the brightness lev el. HDMI F o rmat is only a vai lable wh en the HDMI signal is selected.
34 Menu Functions Basic OSD menu - without input signals connected As there’ s no input signal to your pr ojector , only the submenus of Settings under Basic OSD menu - with input signals connected are a vaila ble. Menu options that are not a v ailable will beco me gra yed out.

The Advanced OSD menu o verview abo ve is for ref erence only and ma y differ from the actu al design and the projector model y ou are using. T o access the OSD men u, press MENU on the projector or remote control.
36 Menu Functions Pictur e menu Submenu Functions and Descriptions Picture Mode Selects a pr eset picture mode to suit your operating en vironment and input signal picture type. The pres et picture modes ar e described as below: • Bright : Maximizes the brightness of the pro jected image.
37 Menu Functions Contrast Adjusts the degree of diffe rence between dark and light in the picture. After adjusting the Brightness value, adjust Contrast to set the peak white le vel. The higher the value, the greater the contrast. The function is accessible thr ough the remote control.
38 Menu Functions Advanced... • Black Le vel Sets the pictur e gra yscale to 0 IRE or 7.5 IRE . The gra yscale video signal is measur ed in IRE units.

49 Maintenance Maintenance Car e of the pr ojector Y our pr ojector needs little maintenance. The only thing yo u hav e to do on a regular basis is k eep the lens clean. Nev er remov e any parts of the pr ojector except the la mp . Contact your dealer or local customer service center if the pr ojector fails to operate as expected.
50 Maintenance Lamp information Getting to know the lamp hour When the pr ojector is in operation, the duration (in hours) of lamp us age is automatically calculated b y the built-in timer . T o obtain the lamp hour i nformation: 1. Press MENU and then use the ar row k eys ( / // ) to go to Information or Settings > Information .
51 Maintenance Timing of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message appears sugge sting it is time to replace the lamp , please install a new lamp or consult y our dealer . An old lamp ma y cause a malfunction in the projector and in some instances the lamp ma y explode.
52 Maintenance Replacing the lamp • T o reduce the risk of electrical shock, alwa ys turn the pr ojector off a nd disconne ct the power cable befor e changing the lamp . • T o reduce the risk of sev ere burns, allow the pr ojector to cool for at least 45 minutes before r eplacing the lamp .
