2 Basic Printing T urning Y our Photo Printer On and Off T o turn your photo printer on or off , press the POWER button. The POWER lamp w ill fl ash green when warming up or when a print job is being sent to the pr i n t e r.

4 Basic Printing Rec ommended Paper U se There are two step s recommended for getting the be st printed output: • Set the paper thic knes s lever for the media us ed. (See “Load Li mit and Paper Thickne ss Lever Pos ition” on page 5.) • Select the correct medi a setting in the printer driver.
5 Basic Printing Media to Avoid Do not use the following types of media wi th your S900 photo printer , as they could produc e poor quality print images, or jam or damage the printer: • Paper that is folde d, exce ssively cur led, wri nkled or wrapped • Damp paper • Exc ess ively thin or thick paper (l ess than 17 lb.
6 Basic Printing The S900 photo printer c an print on paper ranging from standard copier paper (usual ly 17–28 lb.) to Canon specialty media paper and envelopes. The paper thicknes s lever is located ins ide the front c over, on the printhe ad holder .
7 Basic Printing 3. Press down on the c orners and sides of the envelopes to m ake them as flat as pos sibl e by expelling al l of the air . T o avoid paper jams, mak e sure envelopes are fl at before you load them into the paper tray . Mak e sure that none of the flap s overlap .

10 Advanced Print Features Adjustin g Print Quality Feat ures that affect the appe arance and quality of y our printed photos and documents c an be c ontrol led with the prin ter driver . The S900 photo printer automatical ly adjusts printer settings to improve print quality based on the media type (plain paper , Glossy Photo P aper, and so on).
Advanced Print Features 11 T o select best print quality with the Print Adv isor wiz ard: Print Advisor i s a wiz ard that helps y ou select the most optimum media type and print quality for your print job. 1. From an applic ation File menu, clic k Print.
12 Advanced Print Features T o automatical ly mak e images smoother in W indows: Image Optimiz er smooths jagged edg es formed when enlarging a photo or graphic from its original s ize. It is most effective when used with low-reso lution images. 1. From an applic ation File menu, click Print .
