3 GENERAL This publication contains controls, operation, start-up, ser- vice and troubleshooting information for the 30XW150-400 water-coo led liquid chillers with electronic controls. The 30XW chillers are equipped with Comfort Link™ contro ls and electronic expansion valves.
4 “ALARM INDICA TOR LIGHT” activates when a new alarm condition occurs. The alarm indicator light LED, located on the right side of the display , remains activated until it is manually reset using the Reset button on the Main menu. “ST AR T/STOP BUTT ON” enables the user to start or stop the chiller from the T ouch Pilot™ display .

6 Table 1 — Setup Menu SETUP MENU BUTT ON FUNCTION REGIONAL This button specifies the time and date format and th e base unit of measure. Time displa y can be configured as 12-hour AM/PM setting or as a 24-hour setting.
7 Setting the Time and Date — The Comfort Link™ control has a time and date function. This can be useful for diagnostics to determine when alarms occur . The control is factory config- ured for the proper date and is set for the Eastern Time Zone.
8 This indicates an initialization period while the Navigator™ display initiates communication with the Main Base Board. Once communication is establis hed, the default rotating dis- play will be shown.
9 Table 2 — Comfort Link™ Navigator™ Disp lay Menu Structure CONTR OLS General — The 30XW water -cooled liquid chillers contain the Comfort Link™ electronic control system that controls and monitors all operations of the chiller . The control system is composed of several components as listed in the following sec- tions.

13 Electronic Expansion V alve (EXV) Board — The 30XW150-325 units have one EXV board. The 30XW350,400 units have one EXV board per circuit. See Fig. 10. The board is responsible for monitoring the suction gas temperature and economizer gas temperature thermistors.

15 ML V/Condenser Boar d — One auxiliary board is op- tionally installed in each unit. See Fig. 1 1. The auxiliary board contains an analog output for head pressure control and dis- crete outputs for minimum load control.
16 Enable-Off-Remote Contact Switch (SW1) — This switch is installed in all units and provides the owner and service person with a local means of enabling or disabling the machine. It is a 3-position switch and it is used to control the chiller . When switched to the Enable position, the chiller will be under its own control.

18 Carrier Comfort Network ® (CCN) Interface — All 30XW units can be connected to a CCN system, if desired. The communication bus wiring is a shielded, 3-conductor cable with drain wire and is field supplied and installed. The system elements are connected to the communication bus in a daisy chain arrangement.

39 Demand Limit — Demand limit is a feature that allows the unit capacity to be limited during periods of peak energy usage. This allows the owner to keep energy costs down.
40 In the following example, 2-step demand limit based on capacity is desired with the first switch closure limiting the capacity to 60%. The second switch closure is to limit the capacity to 40%. Demand Limit Switch 1 is 60% and Demand Limit Switch 2 is 40%.

54 OPERA TION Sequence of Operation — With a command to start the chiller , the cooler and conde nser pumps will start. After verifying water flow , the control will monitor the entering and leaving water temperatures. If the need for mechanical cooling is determined, the control decides which circuit and compres- sor to start.
