Preface Thank y ou for selecting the Fuji Programmable Operat ion Display , POD UG230 Series (called as the UG 230 or POD her eaf te r). This User ’s Manual <UG230 Hardware> ex plains syst em configuration, specifications and handling of the UG230 Series.

• Check the appearance of the unit when it is unpacked. Do not use t he unit if any damage or deformation is found. Failure to do so may lead to fire, damage or malfunction.
[General Notes ] • Never bundle control cables and input/output cables w ith high-voltage and large-current carry ing cables such as power s upply cables. Keep these cables at least 200 m m away from the high-voltage and large-c urrent carry ing cables.

Unlike the MJ1, the connector is available as an RS-422 (4-wire) port . The pins of modular jack 2 correspond to signals as given below .

USB Connectors Recognition of USB Driver W hen the driv er has been installed successfully and the UG230 and t he computer are c onnected with a USB cable, the [Device Manager] window show s “Operation Panel - Operation Panel USB Driver.” This will disappear when the UG 230 and the computer are disconnected.

Slide the battery holder cover in the direction of the arrow (“ → ” sho wn below) to open it. 3. Check that the battery is securely attached to the backside of the cover , and connect the batt ery connector.

(Maximum connectable units: 32) • The PLC must be of the ty pe of signal level RS 422/RS485 with port numbers. RS422 connection betw een the UG230 ↔ PLC must be in 2-wire connection.
5 5. Universal Serial Communications 5-5 Conn ect ions 5. Univ ersal Serial Communica tions • A general purpose computer or an ASCII unit of the PLC (m aster station) c ontrols the PO D (slave station) using dedicated commands.
5-6 6. UG-Link 6. UG-Link • “UG-Link” is the netw ork where the comput er reads from and writes to the internal memory of the UG230, mem ory card, PLC memory or temperature control/ PLC2 memory using a dedicated protocol. • Use MJ1 of the UG230 for connection with a general-purpose com puter .
5 7. PLC2Way 5-7 Conn ect ions 7. PLC2W ay • The “PLC2W ay” function is an original network function w here one UG230 can be connected to two P LCs. Even if the manufacturer s of these PLC s are not t he same, t hey can be connect ed to one UG230.

Checking the Connection Status If the lamp on the screen shows [No Connect ed] in blue, the device has not been connected to the USB port correct ly .

6-8 2. M ain Menu S creen MJ2 T est RS-232C signal test 1. Slide the s lide switch on the POD to the upper position for RS-232 C. 2. Turn on the [MJ2] and [RS232C] switc hes under [Communication Port ]. 3. Check the signals [RD] and [SD] . W ire inside MJ2 as shown below .

6 2. Main M enu Scr een 6-17 POD Oper ati ons 4. Data Selection and Transfer Select ion In the “Transfer” field, select [Display <-- Card], [Disp lay --> Card] or [Display <--> Card]. Press the desired switch to tur n the switch on. Multiple switc hes can be pressed in the “Data Selection” field.

6 2. Main M enu Scr een 6-19 POD Oper ati ons T ransferring Screen Dat a from a CF Card The procedure of transferring data between the UG230 and a CF card is described below. 1. Mounting the CF Card Insert t he CF card into the CF card connect or at the side of the UG 230.
6-20 2. M ain Menu S creen 2. Check the folder name, free space, and CF card file information. If the correct folder is selected, move to step 4. • Folder Name Indicates the name of the c urrently selected folder . The access folder that is set for screen data defaults.
6 2. Main M enu Scr een 6-21 POD Oper ati ons 4. Press the [Select Data] switch. The [Data S election] window is display ed and t he [Select Data] switch changes to [ S tart]. Select the desired data, and press the [Start] switch. T o cancel the [Data Selection] w indow , press the [Retur n] switch.
