5 The temperature may be adjusted from 80°F/27°C to 180°F/82°C. The thermostat was adjusted to 120°F/49°C before the heater was shipped from the factory .

7 CLEARANCES These heaters are approved for installation on combustible flooring in an alcove when the minimum clearances from any combustion construction are followed as indicated in Figure 4. In all installations the minimum combustible clearances from any vent piping shall be 0".

11 2. The horizont al centerline of the intake vent terminal may not be located lower than the horizontal centerline of the exhaust vent terminal (see Figure 9).
12 2. Drill a pilot hole approximately 1/4" (6 mm) outside of the marked circle. This pilot hole is used as a starting point for a saws-all or sabre saw blade. Cut around the marked circle staying approximately one quarter inch outside the line. (This will allow the vent pipe to easily slide through the opening).
13 VENT PIPE PREP ARA TION 1. INITIAL PREP ARA TION A. Make sure the solvent cement you are planning to use is designed for the specific application you are attempting. B . Know the physical and chemical characteristics and limitations of the PVC, PVC cellular core, ABS or CPVC piping materials that you are about to use.
14 HOT SURF ACE IGNITER The Hot Surface Igniter is a device that ignites the main burner by high temperature (>1800°F or >982°C). When 120V AC is applied to the igniter , sufficient heat is generated to ignite the main burner .
15 LESS, THE APPLIANCE NEED NOT BE DISCONNECTED, BUT MUST BE ISOLA TED FROM THE SUPPL Y PRESSURE TEST BY CLOSING THE MANUAL GAS SHUTOFF V AL VE. BEFORE PLACING THE HEA TER IN OPERA TION, CHECK FOR GAS LEAKAGE. USE SOAP AND W A TER SOLUTION OR OTHER MA TERIAL ACCEPT ABLE FOR THE PURPOSE OF LOCA TING GAS LEAKS.
16 4 . When the system requires water for space heating at temperatures higher than required for domestic water purposes, a tempering valve must be installed. Please refer to inst allation diagrams on p ages 23 through 28 in back of manual for suggested piping arrangements.

18 SELF DIAGNOSTIC CONTROLLER This controller is designed for ignition lockout after three consecutive failed attempts to light. If lockout occurs, the display lights will match Figure 17. Along with this, a numeric message will appear in the display .

32 CHECKLIST AND SERVICE INFORMA TION IMPORT ANT The installer may be able to observe and correct cert ain problems which might arise when the unit is put into operation or when it is re- fired after a prolonged shutdown. HOWEVER, it is recommended that only qualified servicemen, using appropriate test equipment, be allowed to service the heater .
