2 ENGLISH INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the Marantz SR5300 DTS/Dolby Digital Surround receiver. This remarkable component has been engineered to provide you with many years of home theater enjoyment. Please take a few minutes to read this manual thoroughly before you connect and operate the SR5300.

7 ENGLISH ⁄7 CLEAR button This button is used to cancel for certain memory or programming operations. ⁄8 DIMMER button When this button is pressed once, the display is dimmed. When this button is pressed twice, the display is turned off and the “ DISPLAY OFF ” indicator lights up.
8 ENGLISH OPERATION OF REMOTE CONTROL UNIT REMOTE CONTROL The distance between the transmitter of the remote control unit and the IR SENSOR of the SR5300 should be less than about 5 meters. If the transmitter is pointed to a direction other than the IR SENSOR or if there is an obstacle between them, remote control may not be possible.
9 ENGLISH CONNECTIONS SPEAKER PLACEMENT The ideal surround speaker system for this unit is 7-speaker systems, using front left and right speakers, a center speaker, surround left and right speakers, a surround center and a subwoofer. For best results we recommend that all front speakers be of the same type, with identical or similar driver units.

17 ENGLISH SPEAKER DISTANCE (TIME ALIGNMENT) Use this parameter to specify the distance of each speaker ’ s position from the listening position. The delay time is automatically calculated according to these distances. Begin by determining the ideal or most commonly used seating position in the room.

21 ENGLISH STATION NAME PRESET (On PRESET display mode) The station name preset function allows the name of each preset channel to be entered using alphanumeric characters. 23 ENGLISH SURROUND MODE The SR5300 is equipped with many surround modes. These are provided to reproduce a variety of surround sound effects, according to the content of the source to be played. The available surround modes may be restricted depending on the input signal and speaker setup.
24 ENGLISH STEREO This mode bypasses all surround processing. Stereo program sources the left and right channels play normally when PCM-audio or analog stereo is input. With Dolby Digital and DTS sources, the 5.1 multi-channels are converted to two channel stereo.
