W arning and Safety instructions 6 T echnical safety Unauth orised installation, maintenance and r epairs can cause consider able danger for the user . Installation, maintenance and repairs must only be carried out by a Miele authorised t echnician.
W arning and Safety instructions 7 T ampering with electrical connections or components and mechanical parts is highly dangerous t o the user and can cause oper ational faults. Only open the housing as described in the instructions given in the installation sheet and in the Cleaning and care section of this booklet.

W arning and Safety instructions 10 Correct use Never use a nak ed flame beneath the cooker hood. T o avoid the danger of fire, do not flambé or grill over a nak ed flame. When switched on, the cooker hood could dr aw flames into the filter . F at deposits could ignite, presenting a fir e hazard.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Do not use the co oker hood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting int o the appliance and hindering its smooth oper ation. The co oker hood can get very hot during cooking due to heat rising from the hob.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 Cleaning and care Ther e is a risk of fire if the cook er hood is not cleaned as described in these oper ating instructions. Do not use a st eam cleaning appliance to clean this appliance. The steam could r each electrical components and cause a short circuit.
Caring for the envir onment 13 Disposal of the packing mat erial The packaging is designed to pr otect th e appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 14 Depending on the model of the cooker hoo d, the following options are available: Extraction mode The cooking vapours are dr awn in by the cooker hood. The air is passed via the edge extr action panels through the grease filt ers, cleaned and then direct ed outside.
Modes of operation 15 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol The cooker hood has a communication fac ility which enables the automatic operation of the cook er hood depending on the operational stat e of the hob. T o make use of the communication facility the hob must be fitted with a Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 When Con@ctivity 2.0 is activated, the coo ker hood always works in automatic mode (see "Activating Con@ctivity 2.0"). T o operat e the cooker hood manually, see "Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0". Cooking with Con@ctivity 2.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 19 Cooking process If for e xample you switch on a cooking zone at the highest power level to heat a pan for frying and reduce the power level aft er approx. 60 to 90 seconds*, a cooking pr ocess is recognised (*60 seconds t o 5 minutes for a HiLight hob).
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 20 Leaving aut omatic mode t emporarily T o leave automatic mode tempor arily during cooking: Manu ally select a different power level, or Manu ally switch the cooker hood off, or Activate the run-on option on the cooker hood.
Operation (Manual mode) 21 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The cooker hood can be oper ated manually if: – Con@ctivity 2.0 is not activated. – Y ou have tempor arily deactivated Co n@ctivity 2.0 (see "Leaving automatic mode tempor arily").
Operation (Manual mode) 22 Selecting the run-on time It is advisable to run the fan for a few mi nutes after cooking has finished t o neutralise any lingering vapours and odours in the air . With the run-on option the fan switches itself off automatically after a pr e- selected time.
Operation (Manual mode) 23 P ower management The cooker hood features a power manag ement system to help save energy . The fan power level is reduced and the lighting is switched off automatically . – If the Intensive setting is selected, the fan aut omatically switches to level 3 after 5 minutes.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 24 Operating hours count ers The number of hours the appliance has been in oper ation is stor ed in memory . When the Grease filt er symbol or the Char coal filter symbol lights up, the operating hours count ers are signalling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 25 Activating and altering the charcoal filt er operating hours counter Charcoal filt ers are needed for r ecirculation mode.
Energy saving tips 26 This cooker hood oper ates very efficien tly and economically . The following will help you to save even more ener gy when using it: – Ensure that ther e is sufficient ventilation in the kitchen when coo king.
Cleaning and care 27 Before cleaning the cooker hood, please no te the following: Make sure that you use a stable and secu re ladder . Make sure that you stand on the ladder in a safe way . Do not lean over the hob. Do not stand on the worktop or the hob.
Cleaning and care 28 Important for appliances with stainless st eel surfaces (This information does not apply to the contr ols). S tainless steel surfaces can be cleaned with a proprietary non- abrasive cleaning agent designed specifically for use on stainless steel.
Cleaning and care 29 Removing the panels and grease filt ers The panels and the grease filt ers need t o be removed for cleaning. During cooking, condensation forms on the panels which evaporat es after cooking. T o avoid this dripping on you, do not remove the panels for appr oximately two hours after cooking has finished.
Cleaning and care 30 Cleaning the panels and grease filt ers in the dishwasher Place the panels and the grease filters as upright as possible or at a slight angle in the lower basket, with the short sides upright, ensuring the spray arm is not obstruct ed.
Cleaning and care 31 Resetting the grease filter oper ating hou rs counter After cleaning, the oper ating hours coun ter needs to be r e-set. Whilst the fan is switched on, pr ess the operating hours contr ol for appro x. 3 seconds, until only the 1 is flashing.
Cleaning and care 32 Remote control Cleaning the remote control Only clea n the surface with a damp cloth. Do not use too much water t o avoid moisture penetr ating the casing. Changing the battery Use only the type of battery listed. Do not use rechar geable batteries.

Installation 36 Safety distance between hob and cooker hood (S) When planning the installation height of your cooker hood, the minimum safety distance between the top of a cooker or hob and the bott om of the cooker hood is as follows, unless a great er distance is specified by the manufacturer of your cooking appliance.
Installation 37 Installation recommendations – We r ecommend a minimum distance of 700 mm and a maximum distance of 1300 mm. – Please be aware that if positioned t oo high, extr action will be inefficient. – T o achieve optimum vapour e xtraction, the cook er hood must cover the hob.
Connection for air e xtraction 38 I f the cooker hood is used at the same time as a heating appliance that relies on o xygen from the same room, ther e is a risk in certain circumstances of t oxic fumes building up. It is essential that the "Warning and Safety" instructio ns are observed.
Connection for air e xtraction 39 Silencer T o achieve even further reductions in noise levels, a special silencer (optional acc essory) can be fitted in the ducting system. Extraction mode The silencer not only reduces noise fr om the motor outside the house, but also sounds from outside (e.
Electrical connection 40 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 41 Installing the Con@ctivity 2.0 S tick In order t o use the Con@ctivity 2.0 fun ction, the hob must first be fitted with the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick. Ple ase read the separ ate installation instructions supplied with the Con@ctivity 2.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 42 Activating the hob While the coo ker hood is searching for a signal, start activating the hob. More information about this can be found in the Operating instructions for the hob.
Signing on/off the remote contr ol 43 If the connection has been lost between the r emote contr ol and the cooker hood, they must be signed on again. T o do this, the remot e control function on the cooker hood and the remot e control must be signed off first of all.
Signing on/off the remote contr ol 44 Co nfirm the signing off procedur e by pressing the run-on option contr ol 5 15 on the cooker hood. All indicators will go out. Please bear in mind that disabling the signal will also disable any Con@ctivity 2.
