W arning and Safety instructions 6 T echnical safety Unauthorised installation, maintenance and r epairs can cause consider able danger for the user . Installation, maintenance and repairs must only be carried out by a Miele authorised t echnician.
W arning and Safety instructions 7 F or safety r easons, this appliance may only be used after it has been built in. The cooker hood must not be used in a non-stationary location (e.g. on a ship). T ampering with electrical connections or components and mechanical parts is highly dangerous t o the user and can cause oper ational faults.

W arning and Safety instructions 10 Correct use Never use a naked flame beneath the cooker hood. T o avoid the danger of fire, do not flambé or grill over a nak ed flame. When switched on, the cooker hood could dr aw flames into the filter . F at deposits could ignite, presenting a fir e hazard.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Do not use the cooker hood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting int o the appliance and hindering its smooth oper ation. There is a risk of fir e if the cooker hood is not cleaned as described in these oper ating instructions.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 Metal parts can have sharp edges which may cause injury . W ear gloves to prot ect your hands from being cut. Exhaust ducting must be of non-inflammable material. Suitable material is available fr om Miele specialist dealers or the Miele Spares Dept.
Caring for the envir onment 13 Disposal of the packing material The packaging is designed to pr otect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Modes of operation 14 Depending on the model of the cooker hood, the following options are available: Extraction mode The air is drawn in and cleaned by the grease filt ers and directed outside. Non-return flap The non-return flap is designed t o prevent the e xchange of r oom and outside air taking place.
Modes of operation 15 Con@ctivity 2.0 function Automatic contr ol The cooker hood has a communication facility which enables the automatic operation of the cook er hood depending on the operational stat e of the hob. T o make use of the communication facility the hob must be fitted with a Con@ctivity 2.

Operation (Aut omatic mode) 18 When Con@ctivity 2.0 is activated, the cooker hood always works in automatic mode (see "Activating Con@ctivity 2.0"). T o operat e the cooker hood manually, see "Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0". Cooking with Con@ctivity 2.
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 19 Cooking process If for example you switch on a cooking zone at the highest power level to heat a pan for frying and reduce the power level aft er approx. 60 to 90 seconds*, a cooking pr ocess is recognised (*60 seconds t o 5 minutes for a HiLight hob).
Operation (Aut omatic mode) 20 Leaving aut omatic mode temporarily T o leave automatic mode tempor arily during cooking: Manually select a different power level, or Manually switch the cooker hood off, or Activate the run-on option on the cooker hood.
Operation (Manual mode) 21 Cooking without Con@ctivity 2.0 (Manual mode) The cooker hood can be oper ated manually if: – Con@ctivity 2.0 is not activated. – Y ou have tempor arily deactivated Con@ctivity 2.0 (see "Leaving automatic mode tempor arily").
Operation (Manual mode) 22 Dimming/switching the hob lighting on/off The hob lighting can be switched on and off and dimmed independently of the fan. Pr ess the lighting control briefly to switch it on and off. The lighting will switch on at maximum brightness.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 23 Operating hours count ers The number of hours the appliance has been in operation is st ored in memory . When the Grease filt er symbol or the Charcoal filt er symbol lights up, the operating hours count ers are signalling that the filters need to be cleaned or changed.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 24 Activating and altering the charcoal filter operating hours count er The charcoal filt er is needed for recir culation mode.
Operation (Aut omatic and Manual modes) 25 Adjusting the height of the canopy The height adjustment feature on the canopy can be used to – – adapt the height of the hood to suit the installation conditions. – adjust the working area underneath the hood to the height of the user .
Energy saving tips 26 This cooker hood oper ates very efficiently and economically . The following will help you to save even more ener gy when using it: – Ensure that ther e is sufficient ventilation in the kitchen when cooking.
Cleaning and care 27 Casing General information The surfaces and controls ar e susceptible to scr atches and abrasion. Please observe the following cleaning instructions. All ext ernal surfaces and controls can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.
Cleaning and care 28 Important for the controls Do not leave soiling on the controls for any length of time. Otherwise they may suffer discolouration or damage. Remove soiling straight away . Please observe the general not es on cleaning earlier in this section.
Cleaning and care 29 T o take out a grease filt er , release the locking clip on the filter , lower the filter appr ox. 45°, unhook it at the back and remove it. Cleaning the grease filters by hand Clean the filters with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid.
Cleaning and care 30 If a grease filt er is inadvertently replaced upside down, insert a small screwdriver blade int o the slit to disengage the clip. Resetting the grease filter oper ating hours counter After cleaning, the oper ating hours counter needs to be r e-set.
Cleaning and care 31 When to change the charcoal filter Always replace the char coal filter when it no longer absorbs kitchen odours effectively . It should, however be replaced at least every 6 months. The charcoal filt er operating hours symbol will light up to r emind you to change the charcoal filt er regularly .

Installation 33 Before installation Before installation, it is important to r ead the information given on the following pages as well as the "Warning and Safety instructions" at the beginning of this booklet.
Installation 34 Appliance dimensions a Installation area: cut-out for feeding thr ough the exhaust ducting, the mains cable and with ...EXT models, the connection cable to the e xternal motor . In recir culation mode, only the mains cable is required.
Installation 35 Safety distance between hob and cooker hood (S) When planning the installation height of your cooker hood, the minimum safety distance between the top of a cooker or hob and the bott om of the cooker hood is as follows, unless a great er distance is specified by the manufacturer of your cooking appliance.
Installation 36 Installation recommendations – When deciding on the safety distance between the hob and cooker hood, please note that a distance of 650 mm above electric cookers/hobs may be prefer a ble to give more working space under the hood. – Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be using the hood most often.
Installation 37 Draw two int ersecting lines on the ceiling. With air extr action mode: – Place a section of the exhaust ducting in the ceiling and feed it down through the cr oss-sectional area as illustr ated. Exhaust ducting of appro x. 200 mm length is requir ed between the ceiling and the cooker hood exhaust socket.
Installation 38 Use a knife to r elease the four spacers and the two covers from the spacer frame supplied. Use the space frame as a drilling template. Place it on the ceiling with the arrows pointing forwar ds. Using the notches, align the spacer frame on the intersecting lines and make pencil marks for the drill holes.
Installation 39 Loosen the two t elescopic piece clamps from the installation fr ame. The cooker hood is supplied ready for extr action mode. F or recir culation mode (UL), the directional unit fr om conversion kit DUI 32 (optional accessory, DA 420V -6 only) is installed and the telescopic piece turned upside down.
Installation 40 Loosen the fixing scr ews and remove the top part of the installation fr ame. Fix the top part to the side of the installation frame for now .
Installation 41 Loosen the scr ews from the e xhaust socket and the hose inside and remove the e xhaust socket. It is not requir ed for recir culation mode. Remove the non-return flap. It is not requir ed for recir culation mode. Place the directional unit in the installation frame with the arr ows pointing to the sides.
Installation 42 Secure the hose t o the directional unit socket using a hose clip. Check that the hose is held securely . Replace and secure the t op part of the installation frame.
Installation 43 Replace the telescopic piece with the recir culation grilles at the top. The spacer frame can be installed between the tower and the ceiling. This creat es a shadow which gives the illusion of a gap between the ceiling and the tower .
Installation 44 Mount the spacer frame ont o the installation frame. Hang the cooker hood on the four screws, making sur e the controls ar e at the front.
Installation 45 Align the installation frame and secure it with the scr ews. The spacers, which were r emoved from the spacer fr ame at the start, can be used to align the cooker hood vertically . Place the exhaust ducting ont o the exhaust socket.
Installation 46 Remove the grease filt ers from the cooker hood. Remove the safety screw for the tower on the inside of the fr ame. Push the t ower and the telescopic piece upwards and bend the retaining tabs outwar ds again to prevent the t ower and telescopic piece from slipping down again.
Installation 47 Hold the tower secur ely, bend back the retaining tabs and car efully lower the tower . The tower will locate in the cut-out in the canopy . 1x T20 M4x16 Insert the safety screw on the inside. With recir culation mode (UL) cooker hoods, insert the charcoal filter .
Installation 48 Car efully remove the prot ective foil from the gr ease filters. Replace the grease filt ers..
Connection for air e xtraction 49 If this cooker hood is used at the same time as a heating appliance that relies on o xygen from the same room ther e is a risk in certain circumstances of t oxic fumes building up. It is essential that the "Warning and Safety" instructions are observed.
Connection for air e xtraction 50 Silencer T o achieve even further reductions in noise levels, a special silencer (optional accessory) can be fitted in the ducting system. Extraction mode The silencer not only reduces noise from the mot or outside the house, but also sounds from outside (e.
Electrical connection 51 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
Activating Con@ctivity 2.0 52 Installing the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick In order t o use the Con@ctivity 2.0 function, the hob must first be fitted with the Con@ctivity 2.0 Stick. Please read the separ ate installation instructions supplied with the Con@ctivity 2.
