3 Par ts of t he U T- 1 Introduction A The POWER LED When the UT-1 is on, the POWER LED glows green to indicat e that the battery is fully charged or that an A C adapter is connected. A t battery levels below 10%, it will fl ash green to warn that the b attery requires charging.
4 Par ts of t he U T- 1 Introduction A Attaching the UT -1 The UT-1 can be mounted on a tripod or the camera accessor y shoe. T o mount the UT -1 on the camera when a flash unit or other acc essor y is mounted on the accessory shoe, use an optional SK-7 bracket.
5 Par ts of t he U T- 1 Introduction A USB Cable Gaskets and Connector Cov ers The USB cable gaskets and connector covers prev ent accidental disconnections. Attach as shown below . Camera When connecting the USB cable to a D4, attach the optional UF-1 connector cover as shown.
6 Supported Modes Introduction Suppor te d Modes The UT-1 connects the camera to Ethernet and, with the addition of an optional W T -5 wi reless tr ansmitter , wireless networks . Photogr aphs on the camera can then be tr ansmitted to a computer ftp server and the came ra controlled remotely from a computer .
7 Supported Modes Introduction A FTP Servers Ser vers can be configured using standard ftp ser vices available with suppor ted operating systems, such as IIS (Internet Information Ser vices). Connection to computers on other net works via a router , Internet ftp connections and ftp ser vers running third-part y software are not suppor ted.
Suppor ted Modes / Connecting the WT -5 Introduction 8 C onnecting the W T -5 The UT-1 can be used in combina tion with the optional W T -5 wireless transmitter t o connec t to wireless LANs . The W T -5 connects as described below . 1 Open the UT-1 peripheral c onnector cover.

10 Preparing the UT-1 Introduction Pr eparing the UT-1 I nser ting the Battery T o prevent loss of power during setup or upload, use a fully- charged ba ttery or an optional AC a dapter . The UT- 1 takes one EN-EL15 recharge able Li-ion battery ; other batteries can not be used.
11 Preparing the UT-1 Introduction A Removing the Battery Being careful not to drop the batter y , open the batter y-chamber cover and remove the batter y as shown at right.
12 Preparing the UT-1 Introduction C onnecting the Adapter 1 Insert the power c onnector . Open the UT-1 batter y-chamber ( qw ) and power connector ( e ) covers and then inser t the EP-5B power c onnector in the orientation sh own ( r ).
13 Preparing the UT-1 Introduction 3 Plug the adapter in. If the adapter pow er lamp does not light when the adapter is plugged in, consult a Nikon-authorized ser vice representativ e. 4 T urn the UT-1 on. Press the power switch for about a second to turn the UT -1 on.
