IP Softphone 2050 overview 13 IP Softphone 2050 over view The IP Softphone 2050 is a business telephone application that you can use to make and take calls over your computer. Using a headse t or handset connecte d to your PC, you control calls with a click of the mou s e pointer, from your PC keyboard , or from the USB Audio Adapter.

IP Softphone 2050 overview 16 i2050.exe application The i2050.exe a pplication lets the IP Softphone 2050 communicate with the server. It launches when yo u st art the IP Softphone 2050 but remains hidden in the background . To verify that the i2050.exe is running, open the Windows Task Manager.

To mute a call using the Headset adapter, press the Mute button. Using the Smar t Functions menu The Smart Functions menu provides quick access to IP Softphone 2050 features.

To customiz e the Smart Functions m enu: 1. From the Call Control window, selec t File > Settings > USB Headset .

Note: If you do not know the pathname or file name of the function, click Browse beside the Command box. Y ou can then navigate to the correct file, select it, and click Open .

IP Softphone 2050 Settings 64 Pr ofiles Use profiles to configure the IP Soft phone 2050. Using profiles, you can keep multiple IP Softphone 2050 con figurations on the same computer. When you mak e changes to any feat ure or fun ction, the ch anges affe ct only the current profile.
IP Softphone 2050 Settings 65 Modifying profile names To modify a profile name: 1. From the list of profiles , select th e profile that you want to modify. 2. Click Modify Name . The Profile Name te xt box opens, with th e name of the profile highlighted.
IP Softphone 2050 Settings 66 2. Save your profiles using the file name and directory of your ch oice. Your current IP Softphone 2050 profile s are now saved as “Config Backup Files” (*cfx). Importin g profiles Use import to restore backed-up co nfiguration files for current use.

IP Softphone 2050 Settings 72 Selecting MAC addresses To select a MAC address: 1. Click Auto-Create . The Hardware ID text box displays the next address in a range of addresses. 2. Continue clicking Auto-Create to move through the range of available addresses, until yo u find the one you need.
IP Softphone 2050 Settings 73 Select the Override communication server values to adjust the following values: •J i t t e r • Highwater M ark • Early Packet Resync • Late Packet Resync Jitter Though voice frames are transmitted at a fixed rate, some frames arrive faster or slower than othe rs.
IP Softphone 2050 Settings 74 Both resync values must be set at least five times the Highwater Mark. Calculate the resync values using the following formula: frame size x highwater mark x 2. The frame size refers to the number of milliseconds per frame.

Modifica tion lets you shorten or eliminate superfluous language picked up by the screen-r eading software.
