En-11 Connections Connecting the AV Receiver Speaker Configuration The following table indicates the channels you should use depending on the number of speakers that you have. No matter how many speakers you use, a powered subwoofer is recommended for a really p owerful and solid bass.

Advanced Operations En-49 Component Video Input If you connect a video compone nt to a component video input, you must assign that inpu t to an input selector. For example, if you connect your Blu- ray Disc/DVD player to COMPONENT VIDEO IN , you must assign “ IN1 ” to the “ BD/DVD ” input selector.

Advanced Operations En-53 ■ TrueHD Loud ness Management ` Off ` On This setting specifies whethe r or not to apply the Late Night processing on a Dolby TrueHD source. Note • When this setting is set to “ Off ”, the La te Night function for Dolby TrueHD sources is au tomatically fixed to “ Off ” ( ➔ page 45 ).
Advanced Operations En-54 ■ Dynamic EQ ` Off ` On : Audyssey Dynamic EQ ® becomes active. The Dynamic EQ indicator will light. With Audyssey Dynamic EQ, yo u can enjoy great sound even when listening at low volume leve ls.
Advanced Operations En-55 IntelliV olume ■ IntelliVolume ` –12dB to 0dB to +12dB in 1 dB steps. With IntelliVolume, you can set the input level for each input selector individually. This is useful if one of your source components is louder or quieter than the others.

Advanced Operations En-58 Main Menu Listening Mode Preset You can assign a default liste ning mode to each input source that will be selected automatically when you select each input source. For example, you can set the default listening mode to be used with Dolby Di gital input signals.
Advanced Operations En-59 Main Menu Miscellaneous Volume Setup ■ Maximum Volume ` Off , 30 to 79 With this setting, you can limit the maximum volume.
Advanced Operations En-60 HDMI ■ HDMI Control(RIHD) ` Off ` On Turn this setting on to allow p -compatible components connected via HDM I to be controlled by the AV receiver ( ➔ page 86 ).
Advanced Operations En-61 ■ Audio Return Channel (ARC) ` Off ` Auto : The audio signal from your TV tuner can be sent to HDMI OUT of the AV receiver . The audio return channel (ARC) f unction allows an ARC capable TV to send th e audio stream to HDMI OUT of the AV receiver.
Advanced Operations En-62 Network This section explains how to configure the AV receiver’s network settings manually. If your router’s DHCP server is enabled, you don’t need to change any of these settings, as the AV receiver is set to use DHCP to configure itself au tomatically by default (i.
Advanced Operations En-63 Main Menu Remote Controller Setup Remote ID ■ Remote ID ` 1 , 2 , or 3 When several Onkyo component s are used in the same room, their remote ID codes may overlap. To differentiate the AV receiver from other components, you can change its remote ID from “ 1 ”, to “ 2 ” or “ 3 ”.
Advanced Operations En-64 Zone 2 In addition to the main liste ning room, you can also enjoy playback in another room, or as we call Zone 2. And, you can select a diffe rent source for each room. There are two ways you ca n connect Zone speakers: 1. Connect them directly to the AV receiver.
Advanced Operations En-65 ■ Operating on the AV receiver ■ Operating on the remote controller To control Zone 2, you must press ZONE2 on the remote controller first.
En-66 Controlling Other Components iPod/iPhone Playback via Onkyo Dock RI Dock With the RI Dock, you can easily play the music of your iPod/iPhone, or watch the slid eshows and videos of your iPod/iPhone on a TV.
Controlling Other Components En-67 By pressing the REMOTE MODE button that’s been programmed with the remote control code for your Dock, you can control your iPod/iPhone in the Dock with the buttons described further in this section. See “Entering Remote Control Codes” for details on entering a remote control code ( ➔ page 69 ).

Controlling Other Components En-71 Controlling a Blu-ray Disc/DVD Player, HD DVD Player or DVD Recorder BD/DVD is preprogrammed with the remote control code for controlling a compone nt that supports the p *1 (limited to some models). The component must be able to receive remote control commands via p and be connected to the AV rec eiver via HDMI.
