En- 10 Connecting the Receiver Disconnect the po wer cord from the electri c al outlet before ma king any connections. The receiv er allows you to connect two sets of speake rs. When two sets of speakers are connected, you can select which speaker set outputs sound or use both sets to output sound simultaneously .
En- 11 Connecting the Receiver —Continued Using a suitable cable, connect the receiv er’ s PRE OUT : SUBWOOFER to the input on your po wered subwoofer . If your subwoofer is unpowered and you’ re using an external am plifier , connect the PRE OUT : SUBWOOFER to the amp’ s input.
En- 12 Connecting the Receiver —Continued On the receiver , th e factory defa ult for speaker impedance is “6 Ω ”. If you need to change th e speaker impeda nce setting, read “Speaker Connecti on Precautions” on page 10 ca refully before performing the procedure belo w .
En- 13 Connecting Antennas This section explains ho w to connect the s upplied indoor FM antenna and AM loop antenna. The receiv er won’ t pick up any radio signals if no antenna is connected, so you must connect the antenna to use the tuner .

En- 20 Enjoying A udio Sources —Contin ued Y ou can adjust the brightness of the display . Press the remote controller’ s [DIMMER] button repeatedly to select: dim, dimmer , or normal brightness. Y ou can also use the recei v er’ s [DIMMER] button (not European model).

En- 22 Recor ding This section explains ho w to record th e selected input source to a component with recording capability , and how to record audio and video from dif ferent sources. Audio sources can be recorded to a recorder (e.g., cassette tape deck, CDR, MD recorder).
En- 23 Listening to the Radio W ith the built-in tuner , you can enjoy AM and FM radio stations. 1 Use the receiver’ s [INPUT] selector , or the remote controller’ s INPUT SELECT OR buttons to select AM or FM . In this example, FM has been selected.

En- 26 Listening to the Radio —Continued RDS only works in areas where RDS broadcasts are av ailable. When tun ed into an RDS station, the RDS indicator appears. ■ What is RDS? RDS stands for Radio Data Sy stem and is a method of transmitting data embedded in FM radio signals.

Example: Intelli v olume setting procedure Intelli V olume W ith IntelliV olume, you can se t the input lev el for each input selector individ ually . Th is is useful if one of your source components is louder or quieter than the others.
En- 41 Adv anced Setup —Continued 1. Digital A udio Input If you connect a component to a digital audio input, you must assign that input to an input selector . For example, if you connect your CD player to the OPTICAL IN 1, you must assign “OPTICAL1” to the “CD” input selector .
En- 42 Adv anced Setup —Continued 4. Zone2 Setup Zone2 Out If you hav e connected your Zone 2 speakers to an amp with no volume control, set the Zone 2 Out setting to V ariable so that you can set the zone’ s volume, balance, and tone on the receiver .
En- 43 Adv anced Setup —Continued Note: When the “Netw ork Control” setting is set to “Disable” , this setting cannot be selected. 6. Firmware Update See “Firmware Update” for the update procedure. Notes: • The setup menu display will become a vailable several tens of seconds after the receiv er has started up.

En- 48 Firmware Update T o update the f irmware of the receiv er, you can choose from the follo wing two methods: update via netw ork, or update via USB storage. Choos e the one that best suits your en vironment. Before proceeding with the update, please read the corresponding explanations carefully .
En- 49 Firmware Update —Continued T r oubleshooting Case 1: If “ No Update ” is displayed on the recei ver’ s display , it means that the firmw are ha s already been updated. Y ou do not need to do an ything further . Case 2: If an error occurs, “ Err or!! *-** No media ” is displayed on the recei ver’ s display .
En- 50 Firmware Update —Continued 6 Select the USB input source. “Now Initializing” is displayed on the fron t display and then the name of the USB device is displayed. It takes 20 to 30 seconds to recognize the USB device. 7 Press the [SETUP] button on the remote contr oller .
En- 51 T r oubleshooting If you ha ve any trouble using the receiver , look for a solution in this section. Can’t turn on the receiver • Make sure that the power cord is plugged into the electric outlet properly . • Unplug the po wer cord from the electric outlet, wait 5 seconds or more, then plug it in ag ain.
En- 52 T roubleshooting —Cont inued Can’t contro l other components • Make sure that REMOTE MODE is set correctly ( page 9). • If you are unable to cont rol another component, make sure that you selected an input source.
En- 53 T roubl eshooting —Continued Can’t connect to the receiver from a W eb bro wser • If you’ re using DHCP , your router may not always allocate the same IP addre ss to the receiver , so if you find that you can’t connect to a server or I nternet radio station, recheck t he receiv er’ s IP address.
