When driving down an inclin e, do so by setting the speed adjustment dial to the slowest setting and dr iving in the forward direction only.

YOUR SCOOTER TILLER CONSOLE The tiller console houses al l of the controls needed to drive you r scooter, including the speed adjustment dial, throttle control lever, batt ery condition meter, lights switch, ha zard lights switch, and horn buttons.
19 Celebrity XL www.pridemobility.com III. YOUR SCOOTER Lights Switch This switch controls your scooter’s lights. Toggle the switch forward to turn on your sc ooter’s front top light and running lights. Toggle the switch to the middle to turn off the scooter’s lights.

Rear Section REAR SECTION The batteries, the main circuit break er (reset button), the manual freewheel lever, the anti-tip wheels, and the motor/transaxle assembly are located on th e rear section of your scooter.

Ensure the key is removed from the key switch. Stand to the side of the scooter to engage or disengage freewheel mode.

23 Celebrity XL www.pridemobility.com IV. BATTERIES AND CHARGING BATTERIES A ND CHARGING Your scooter requires two l ong-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cyc le batteries that are seal ed and maintenance free. They are recharged by an off-board charging system.

Refer to the manual supplied with the charger for a complete explanation of these indicators.

Deep-cycle batteries em ploy a different chemical technology than that used in car batteries, nickel-cad- mium batteries (nicads), and other common battery types.

See IV. “Batteries and Charging.” Is the manual freewheel lever in the drive (back ward) position? Never leave the manual freewheel lever pushed forward unless you are manually pushing your scooter.
29 Celebrity XL www.pridemobility.com V. OPERATION NOTE: Your scooter’s reverse speed is slower than that of the forwar d speed yo u preset with the speed adjustment dial. GETTING OFF YOUR SCOOTER 1. Bring your scooter to a complete stop. 2. Remove the key from the key switch.

Remove the key from the key switch before adjusting the tiller, console or the seat. Never attempt to adjust the tiller or the seat while the scooter is in motion.

Determine a side to install the mirror on and remove the rubber plug from the top of the tiller handle. 2. Insert the threaded end of the mirror holder into the opening and rotate it clockwise until snug.
33 Celebrity XL www.pridemobility.com VI. COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS POWER SEAT ADJUSTMENT Your scooter may be equippe d with a power seat. The pow er seat actuator is designed to raise or lower the seat with minimal effort on the part of the operator. Th e power s eat switch is lo cated on the tiller console.
34 ww w. pr id e mob i li ty .c om Cel eb r it y X L VII. DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY DISASSEMBLY You can disassemble the sc ooter into seven pieces: the seat, the front section, the rear section, the rear shroud, the basket, and th e batteries. See figure 20.

36 ww w. pr id e mob i li ty .c om Cel eb r it y X L VIII. BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING What if all the systems on my scooter seem to be “dead”? Make certain that the ke y is in the “on” position. Check that the batteries are fully charged. Push in the main circuit breaker reset button.

If you do not feel confident in your ability to perform the maintenan ce listed below, you may schedule inspection and maintenance at your authorized Pride Provider.
39 Celebrity XL www.pridemobility.com DRIVE WHEEL NUT WHEEL REPLACEMENT If your scooter is equippe d with pneumatic tires and you have a flat tire, you can have the tube replaced. If your scooter is equipped with a solid tire insert, either the solid insert or the entire wheel must be replaced depending on the model.
