MP6512i 1 INTRODUCTION Congratulations on your purchase of the Jensen MP6 512i Mobile Receiver . It’s a good idea to read all of the instructions before beginning the insta llation. We re commend having your Jensen MP6512i installe d by a reputable installation sho p.
MP6512i 2 INSTALLATION This unit is designed for in st allation in cars, trucks and vans with an existing radio opening. In many cases, a spec ial installation kit will be required to mount the r adio to the dashboar d. Thes e kits are available at electronics supply stores and car stereo spec ialty shops.
MP6512i 3 CAUTION: For proper ope ration of the CD p la yer , the chassis must be mounted within 20° of horizont al. Make sure the unit is mounted within this limitation. 4. Place the radio in front of the dashbo ard opening so the wir ing can be brought through the mo unting sleeve.
MP6512i 4 Removing the Radio T o remove the radio af ter inst allation, remove the trim ring by lifting in the center and pulling it of f from either side. Insert the remo val keys st raight back until they lock, then pull the radio out. If remova l keys are inserted at an angle, they will not lock properly and will not release the unit.

MP6512i 6 F RONT P ANEL RELEASE The open button (1) re leases the mechanism that holds the front p anel to the chassis. Detaching the Front Panel T o detach the front p anel: 1. Press and hold the po wer butto n (2) to turn the unit of f. 2. Press and hold the open button (1).
MP6512i 7 OPERATION Power Press the power bu tton (2) to turn the unit on. Press and hold the power button again to turn the unit off. NOTE: LCD panels may tak e longer to respond when subjected to cold temperatures for an ext ended period of time. In addition, t he visibility of the numbers on the LCD may decrease slightly .
MP6512i 8 Mid-Range T o adjust Mid-Range o ptions, press the MENU button (22) to access the audio menu. T urn the rotary encode r until “MID” appears in the display .
MP6512i 9 select “OFF”, “LOW”, “MI D” or “HIGH”. Wh en activated, “L OUDNESS” appears on the display p anel. Local/Distant Reception (LO/DX) When the Local function is on, only radio st ations with a strong signal are played. T o activate Local rece ption mode, press the LO/DX button (6).
MP6512i 10 T UNER OPERATION The MP6512i allows you to receive c hannels in U.S.A. or EUROPE mode. See “Frequency S pacing (AREA SET)” on page 9 to learn how to change the tuner options . Select a Band Press the BAND button (3) to change between th ree FM and two AM bands.

MP6512i 12 CD PLAY ER OPERATION Insert CD 1. Press the OPEN / EJECT button (1) and the motorized front panel will slide down automatically to display the disc slot. • If a disc is already present, it will be ejected. Remove the ejected disc before proceeding.
MP6512i 13 MP3/WMA OPERATION MP3 and WMA (Windows Media Audio) music files are digital au dio files that are compressed to a llow more files on a single CD. This unit can play MP3/WMA dire ctly from files contai ned on a CD-R/RW , SD card or USB device using the buttons on the receiver (o r optional remo te control) as described b elow .
MP6512i 14 Bit Rates The unit support s bit rates from 32 - 320 kbps. MP3 Playing Order When selected for play , files and fold ers (Fol der Search, File Search or Folder Select) are accessed in the orde r they were written by the CD writer .
MP6512i 15 Pause Press the pause >/|| button (8) to susp end play . Press the p ause >/|| button again to resume play . Accessing the ID3 Tag Press the DISP button (21) re peatedly during M P3/WMA play to access the ID3 information manually .

MP6512i 17 SATELLITE RADIO OPERATION Listeners can subscribe t o XM ® Radio on the Web by visiting www .xmradio.com, or by calling ( 800) 967-2346. Cu stomers should have their Radio ID ready (see “Displayin g the Identification (ID) Code”). Customers can receive a limited number of free-to-air channels without ac tivation.
MP6512i 18 Category Tuning Mo de T o select stations in a specific category , perform th e following steps. 1. Press the AS button (15) twice. “CA TEGORY” appears on the screen. 2. T urn the rotary encode r to move through the available categories.
MP6512i 19 IPOD OPER ATION Accessing iPod Mode Press the SRC button (7) to change to iPod playback mode. iPod playback begins automatically when an iPod is connected. Selecting a Track Press the TUNE/TRACK >>| or |< < button (19) to select a track.
MP6512i 20 REMOTE CONTROL The remote control will allow you to co ntrol many functions of the MP6512i. Operating Range The remote control sensor (20) is located to the right of the SRC button. The remote control can oper ate within a distan ce of 3~5m.
MP6512i 21 CARE AND MAINTENANCE CD Player The following guidelines will help you ex tend the life of your CD player: 1. When cleaning th e vehicle interior , do not get water or cleaning fluids on the unit. 2. The CD player will not operate prop erly in extreme hot/cold or under damp conditio ns.
