Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section helps yo u to quickly start u sing your device. Underst anding This User Manual The sections o f this manual genera lly follow the features of your device. A robust index for features begins on page 181.
6 Batter y Y our device is powered by a recharg eable, standard Li-Ion battery . A Wall/USB Charger (Cha rgin g Head and USB cable) are included with the device for charging the battery . Note: The battery comes partially charged. Y ou must fully charge the battery before using your device for the first time.

34 Section 3: Entering T ext This section describes how to ente r words, letters, punctuation and numbers when you need to enter text. Vir tual QWER TY K eyboard Y our device uses a virtual QWERTY keyboard for text entry . Use the keyboard to enter letters, punctuation, numbers, and other characters int o text entry fields or applicatio ns.
Entering T ext 35 For more information, refer to “Configure Input Methods” on page 150. Entering T ext Using Swype Swype™ is a new way to ent er text on touch scree ns. Instead of touching each key , use your finger t o trace over each lett er of a word.
36 • Punctuation : T ouch and hold a key to view a punctuation menu and make a selection. • Accented characters : Just glide through the letters of the word. Swype usually recognizes the word and correctly accents the lette rs. • Error correction : If you make a mistake, doub le-tap on the word you want to change.
Entering T ext 37 Editing K eyboard The Editing Keyboard provides a quick way to m ove the cursor and highlight text. If the application in which you are working supports editing, you can cut, co py , or paste hi ghlighted text. T o display t he Editing Keyb oard: 1.
38 Entering Upper and Low er Case Letter s The default case is lower case (a bc). Enter upper and lower case alphabet letters by to uching the Shift key to toggle the case, before touching th e letter key(s).
