7 Getting star ted About Gear When you c onnect the G ear to y our mobile device, you can use the Gear to view call logs or set alarms. Y ou can use mobile devices more c onv eniently by connecting to various applications with the Gear . Set your exer cise programme and manage y our health by connecting the Gear to a mobile device.

Getting star ted 14 2 Open the clasp , fit the strap to your wrist with the pin, and press the buckle to close. T urning the Gear on and off When you turn on the Gear f or the first time, f ollow the on-screen instructions. The instructions describe how to connect the Gear to a mobile device and to set up the Gear .
Getting star ted 15 Notices f or using Bluetooth • T o avoid pr oblems when connec ting your Gear to another mobile devic e, place the devices close to each other . • Ensure that y our G ear and the other Bluetooth device ar e within the Bluetooth connection range (10 m).
Getting star ted 16 C onnec ting the G ear to a mobile devic e Update Gear Manager on the mobile device to the lat est version and connect the Gear to the mobile device via Bluetooth. • Y ou cannot install Gear Manager on mobile devices that do not suppor t Gear syncing.

Getting star ted 19 L ock ing and unlock ing the Gear When not in use, lock the Gear t o preven t unwan ted operation. P ressing the P ower button on the Clock screen turns off the screen and puts the Gear int o lock mode. The Gear automatically gets locked if it is not used f or a specified per iod.

Basics 21 F inger gestures T apping T o open an application, to select a menu item, or to press an on-scr een button, tap it with a finger . T apping and holding T ap and hold the screen with two fingers to open a list of rec ently-used applications .
Basics 22 Double -tapping Double -tap on an image to zoom in a par t. Double -tap again to return. T o check the current status of the Gear and view the remaining ba tter y pow er , double -tap anywhere on the scr een with two fingers. Y ou can also adjust the volume and the brightness of the display .

Basics 24 V iewing the Home screen View the Gear ’ s Home screen when y ou connect it to the mobile device. It displays the clock, shor tcuts to applications , and others. The Home screen can ha ve multiple panels. T o view other panels, scroll left or right.

Applications 37 T aking a photo with sound Use this mode to captur e the ambient sound with a photo. T ap → Sound & shot → On . Scroll down fr om the top of the screen t o return to the camera screen and tap the scr een to take a photo . The Gear records 9 sec onds of audio after taking the photo.

Applications 52 Star ting S V oice On the S V oice screen, say a v oice command. When S Voic e is launched and no voice commands are spoken within a specified period , the application enters standb y mode. The microphone ic on at the bottom of the scr een changes to gr een.
Applications 53 Schedule Use this application to view the ev ents scheduled on the connected device with the Gear . T ap Schedule on the Apps screen. Selec t an even t from the list to view the details . S croll left or right on the screen or tap the left and right arrow s to change the date .
Applications 54 Pla ying voic e memos T ap , and select a voice memo to pla y . I f spoken conten t is recor ded and then converted to a data file, appears next to the filename. When you tap , the G ear show s the content as text on the screen during playback.
55 Settings Clock Change the clock type that appears on the Clock screen. On the Home screen, tap Settings → Clock . Scroll left or right on the screen to select a clock type. W allpapers Change the colour of the Home screen. Or , set an image or photo stored in the Gear as wallpaper for the Home scr een.
Settings 56 Sound Change the settings for various sounds on the Gear . On the Home screen, tap Settings → Sound . • V olume : Adjust the v olume level for various sounds, such as multimedia, ringt one, notifications, and sy stem sounds. • Sound mode : Selec t Gear ’ s sound mode from sound, vibra tion, and mute.
Settings 57 • W ake -up gesture : Set the Gear to turn on and show a specified screen by using a gesture . R aise the hand that is wearing the Gear and look at the Gear ’ s screen for a f ew seconds. The scr een turns on and a preset screen is displa yed .
Settings 58 P rofile Creat e a profile by entering your ph ysical information, such as sex and body siz e. On the Home screen, tap Settings → Pr ofile , and then select an option. Reset Gear Reset settings to the factor y default values and delete all data.

Gear Manager 64 Using a w ake -up gesture Set the Gear to recognise y our gesture to wake up the Gear and show the clock or the last page you acc essed when the screen is turned off . On the Settings screen, tap W ake -up gesture , and then drag the W ake -up gesture switch to the right.

T roubleshooting 67 Another Bluetooth de vice cannot locat e your Gear • Ensure that the Bluet ooth wireless f eature is activated on your Gear . • Reset your Gear and tr y again. • Ensure that y our G ear and the other Bluetooth device ar e within the Bluetooth connection range (10 m).
T roubleshooting 68 O thers cannot hear y ou speak ing on a call • Ensure that y ou are not cov ering the built-in microphone . • Ensure that the micr ophone is close to your mouth. Sound echoes during a call Adjust the v olume or move to another area.
T roubleshooting 69 Y our Gear is hot to the touch When you use applica tions that requir e more power or use applications on y our G ear for an extended period of time, your Gear may f eel hot to the touch. This is normal and should not affect your Gear ’ s lifespan or per formance .
