8 Installing a Memor y Card Y our dev ice supports removable microSD™ or microSDHC™ memory ca rds, for storag e of music, photos, videos, and other files. Note: Y ou can only store music f iles that you own ( from a CD or purchased with the device) on a memo ry card.
Getting Started 9 Installing the Batter y T o install t he battery: 1. Insert the battery i nto the opening on the back of the device, making sure the connecto rs align (1). 2. Gently press down to secur e the batter y (2). Note: Make sure the batter y is properly installed before switching on the device.
10 Charging the Batter y Y our device is powered by a re chargeable, standa rd Li-Ion battery. The T ravel Charger that is used to charge the ba ttery is included with your device. Use only Samsung-approved batteries and charger s. Note: The battery comes partially charged.

While the device is charging, if the touch screen does not function due to an unstable power supply , unplug the USB power ada pter from the power outlet or unplug the USB cable from the device. 3. When charging is finished, remove the flat end from the Charger/Accessory Inter face connector on the device.

Getting Started 13 Set Up Y our Goog le Account Y our new device uses your G oogle account to fully use its Android features, incl uding Gmai l, Maps, Naviga tion, Google T alk, and the Androi d Market. The Set up your Google Account screen, allows you to create a new Google account or sign in , if you already have a Google account.

22 Extended Home Screen The Home screen consists of the Ho me panel, plus six panels that extend beyond the display width to provide m ore space for adding shortcuts, widgets, and folder s. Slide your finger horizontally across the screen to scrol l to the left or right side panels.

38 Section 3: Entering T ext This section describes how to enter words, letters, punctuation and numbers when you need to enter text. Vir tual QWERTY K eyboar d Y our device uses a v irtual QWERTY keyboard for text entry . Use the keyboard to enter lett ers , punctuation, numbers, and other characters into text entry fields or a pplications.
Entering T ext 39 Entering Upper and Low er Case Letters The default case is low er case (abc). Enter upper and l ower case alphabet letters by touching (Shift) to toggle the case, before touching the letter key(s). • T ouch once to sw itch from abc to Abc mode.
40 T ouch and then touch Add word to register a new word to XT9. 5. Continue typing your messag e. XT9 mode can be used in portrait or landscap e mode. Editing T ext Y ou can edit the text yo u enter in text fields by cutting, copying, or pasting text.

44 Using Speech R ecognitio n Y ou can use your voice to enter text using the Voice input feature, which lets you enter text by speaking. Sa msung Keypad recognizes your spee ch and enters text for you. Note: Enable Voice Input in Samsung keypad settings.

58 Account settings • General settings – Priority Inbox : This setting is on ly available if you have configured Gmail on the web to sh ow Priority Inbox. If available, you can set Priority Inbox as the conversation list to open whe n you have new mail, rather than Inbox.

94 Viewing Videos with the Image View er After recording a video, use the Image Viewer to play, share, or delete your video. 1. T ouch (Image Viewer) to view the video. 2. T ouch the screen to show or hide Image Viewer options. 3. Sweep across the screen to display the next or previous video.
Photos and Videos 95 Videos Y our device’ s 4.2-inch 800x480 WVGA TFT LCD touch screen provides playback of videos. Use the Videos app to view and manage videos stored on an install ed memory card.
96 Adjusting Screen View While viewing a video, you can also adjust the s creen view . Screen view allows yo u to select Original Size, Full-Screen, or Full-Screen in Ratio to view y our video. Note: The screen view icons are a three-way toggle. The icon that is displayed, is the mode that appears after the icon is touched.
