9 Getting Star ted Before Operating Y our Produc t • Choose your installation location carefully . Avoid placing it in dir ect sunlight or close to a source of heat. Also a void locations subject to vibrations and excessiv e dust, heat, cold, or moistur e.
10 Connecting Speakers Caution: T o avoid damaging the speak ers with a sudden high-level signal, be sure to switch the po wer off before connecting the speakers. • Check the impedance of your speakers . • Connect speakers with an impedance of 6 ohms or more .
11 Connecting Y our Amplifi er/R eceiv er Pre Out and Speakers PRE OUT (SUB WOOFER) Jack Use this jack to connect a power ed sub woof er (power amplifi er built in). If your sub woof er is a passive type (power amplifi er is not built in), connect a monaural power amplifi er to the PRE OUT jack and connect the sub woofer to the amplifi er .

13 Bass eff ec ts are an important par t of home theater . F or optimal enjoyment, a subwoof er should be used as it is optimized for lo w frequency reproduction. If you have full range fr ont speakers, how ever , they may be used in place of a subwoof er with proper setting of the switches in the menu system.

15 Audio Components T ape Jacks The audio output signal from the T APE OUT (L/R) jack is the input jack (L/R) signal which is currently selected. Notes: • Inser t all plugs and connectors securely . Incomplete connections may make noise . • Be sure to connect the left and right channels properly .

17 V ideo Components VIDEO , S - VIDEO , C OMPONENT Jacks There ar e 3 types of video jacks on the rear panel. VIDEO Jack The video signal f or the VIDEO jacks is the conv entional composite video signal.
18 S-VIDEO Jack The video signal is separated int o luminance ( Y ) and color (C) signals for the S-VIDEO jack. The S-VIDEO signals enable high-quality color reproduction. If your video component has an S-VIDEO output, w e recommend to use it. C onnect the S-VIDEO output jack on your video component to the S-VIDEO input jack on this unit.
