While vi ewing a notification, tap the summary to see more information, if available. Some event summaries include controls, such as media controls if music is playing.

17 The Home screen Personalizing the Home screen Y ou may personalize your Home screen by add ing or removing application shortcuts or widgets, and by changing th e wallpaper . 20 Changing the keyboard T o use a different keyboar d type, tap the Keyboar d status icon; this will open a menu listing the text input meth ods available on your tablet. 21 Editing text Editing text Y ou can select and ed it text in certain applications, su ch as text you have enter ed in a text field. Selected text c an be cut or copied and later past ed within the same application, or to a dif ferent application. Note: Certain applications may not support te xt selection, or on ly support it in certain ar eas.
22 If you previously copied (see below) text , tap wher e you want to insert the text. A PA S T E button appears briefly below the cursor . T ap the button to paste the text. T o replace a word, double tap the word. A PA S T E button appears above the word.
23 Locking you r tablet Locking your tablet If you will not use you r tablet for a while, briefly press the power button to lock access. This saves power and ensure s your tablet does not unintentionally use any services. Y our tablet will lock automatically if it is not used after a while.

Shutting down your tablet If you won’t use your tablet for an extended period of time, turn it off to save battery power . 31 Internet sh aring T ether ing via USB If you wish to share your mobile Inter net c onnection with a computer , you can connect your tablet to a PC using the suppl ied USB cable. 1. Plug the USB sync cable into the micro USB port on your tablet. 2. Plug the USB client conne ctor into an available USB port on your co mputer .
32 Going online Managing Wi-Fi connections If you did not connect to a Wi-Fi network when you first started your tablet, or want to connect to a new network, tap APPS > Settings > Wi-Fi to manage your connection settings. Alter natively , tap the Wi-Fi status icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
33 Setting up Gmail Y ou may open multiple tabs. When a page is open, pr ess the small tab with a plus sign. Simply tap one of the tabs across th e top of the screen to switch pages. New tab Pinch to zoom in or out of pages. T ap and hold an it em on a page to open a contextual menu.
34 Setting up the Email application The Email application enables you to acc ess email from most popular email prov iders. Most accou nts can be set up in two steps. Open the application me nu and then tap Email to start setting up your email access. If necessary , enter your email address and tap Manual setup to enter the parameters manually .

42 Managing people and contacts Y our tablet features an address book that allows you to save contacts to the internal memory , SIM card or your Google account.
43 Editing a contact If you have opened an new or existing con tact you can enter information a bout the contact: Simply tap on a box and type the appropr i ate information . Click on the arrow next to the name entry to see options, such as addi ng a name prefix or phonetic name.
