13 12 VII. W ARNINGS: F ALLS & TIP-O VERS A. CENTER OF BALANCE The point where this chair will tip f orward, back, or to the side depends on its center of balance and stability . How your chair is set up , the options you select and the changes you mak e , ma y affect the risk of a fall or tip-ov er .

16 17 VII. W ARNINGS: F ALLS & TIP-O VERS 3. Make sure to k eep pneumatic tires pr operly inflated. Low tire pr essure ma y allow the rear wheel locks to slip . 4. Move your chair as close as as y ou can to the seat you are transf erring to. If possible, use a transfer board.
18 19 VII. W ARNINGS: COMPONENTS & OPTIONS D . F ASTENERS Many of the scr ews, bolts and nuts on this chair are special high-str ength fasteners. Use of improper fasteners ma y cause your chair to fail.
20 VII. W ARNINGS: COMPONENTS & OPTIONS ▲ ! 2. T o keep the r ear wheels from r olling, alwa ys set both rear wheel locks when you transf er to or from y our chair . 3. Low pressure in a r ear tire ma y cause the wheel lock on that side to slip and ma y allow the wheel to turn when you do not expect it.
22 23 VIII. TIPS FOR A TTEND ANTS C. CLIMBING A CURB OR SINGLE STEP Follow these steps to help the rider climb a curb or single step g oing FOR W ARD: 1. Stay behind the chair . 2. Face the curb and tilt the chair up on the rear wheels so that the front casters clear the curb or step .
24 25 IX. SET UP & ADJUSTMENT B. TOE-IN AND T OE-OUT T oe-in and T oe-out terms are terms that relate to ho w well the r ear wheels of the chair are aligned. This will affect how well the chair will roll. Drag or r esistance occurs in a wheelchair when the rear wheels are not pr operly aligned.

28 IX. SET UP & ADJUSTMENT K. C ASTER PLA TES Note: Use a torque setting of 75-80 in./lbs. when adjusting caster angle. 1. Angle Adjustment a. Loosen the two eccentric bolts that secure the caster assembl y .
30 IX. SET UP & ADJUSTMENT g. Insert it into the anti-tip tube receiver . h. T urn the anti-tip tube down until release pin is thr ough the receiver mounting hole.
33 Y ou will need to adjust your chair fr om time to time for best performance (espe- cially if y ou alter the original settings). This chart gives you a first solution, then a second and a third if needed. Y ou may need to look farther to find the best solu- tion for a specific pr oblem.
35 C. MAINTENANCE TIPS 1. Axles & Axle Receivers: Check axles and axle sleev es every six months to make sur e they ar e tight. Loose sleev es will damage the axle plate and will affect performance. 2. Tire Air Pressure: Check air pressur e in pneumatic tires at least ONCE A WEEK.
XII. QUICKIE LIMITED W ARRANTY A. FOR LIFETIME Quickie warrants the frame and quick-r elease axles of this wheelchair against defects in materials and w orkmanship for the life of the original pur chaser . The expected life of this frame is fiv e years.
