2-16 X7SPT -DF-D525 User ’s Manual 2-6 Jumper Settings Explanation of Jumpers T o modify the operation of the motherboard, jumpers can be used to choose between optional settings. Jumpers create shorts between two pins to change the function of th e connector.

2-18 X7SPT -DF-D525 User ’s Manual CMOS Clear (JBT1/JKBT1) JBT1 is used to clear CMOS. Instead of pins, this "jumper" consists of co ntact pads to prevent accidental clearing of the CMOS. T o clear the CM OS, u se a metal object such as a sm all screwd river to touch both pads at the same time to short the conne ction.

Th e yellow Activ ity LED (r ight, see below) indicates activity , while the Link/ Speed LED (left) may be green, amber or of f to indicate the speed of the connection.

The Unit ID Swit ch activat es the Unit ID LED next to it, and the corresponding Unit ID LED on the front panel of the chassis (if so equipped).

Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-1 Chapter 4 BIOS 4-1 Introduction This chapter describes the AMI BIOS Setup Utility for the X7SPT -DF-D525 . The AMI ROM BIOS is st ored i n a Flash EEPROM and can be e asily updated. This chapt er describes the basic navigation of the AMI BIOS Setup Utility setup screens.
4-2 X7SPT -DF-D525 User's Manual How to Start the Setup Utility Normally , the only visible Power-On Self-T est (POST) routine is the memory test. As the memo ry is being test ed, press the <D elete> key to en ter the main menu of the AMI BIOS Setup Utility .

Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-9 Block (Multi-Sector T ransfer) Block M ode boosts the IDE drive p erformance b y increasin g the am ount of data transferred . Onl y 512 byte s of data can be tran sferred per inte rrupt if Block Mode is not used. Block Mode allows transfers of up to 64 KB per interrupt.
4-10 X7SPT -DF-D525 User's Manual Select MW DMA2 to all ow the BIOS to use Mu lti-Word DMA m ode 2. It has a data transfer rate of 16.6 MBs. Select UDMA0 to allow th e B IOS to use Ultra DMA mode 0. I t ha s a da ta transfer rate o f 16.6 MBs. It has t he same transfer rate as PIO mode 4 and Multi Word DMA mode 2.
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-1 1 PCI Latency Timer This feature sets the latency Timer of each PCI device i nstalled on a P CI bus. Select 64 to set the PCI latency to 64 PCI clock cycles. The options are 32, 64 , 96, 128, 160, 192, 224 and 248. PCI IDE Bus Master When enabled, the BIOS uses PCI bus mastering for reading/writing to IDE drives.
4-12 X7SPT -DF-D525 User's Manual If Remote Access is set to Enabled, the following items will display: Serial Port Number This feature allo ws the user decide which serial por t t o b e u sed for Console Redirection. The options are COM 1, COM 2 and COM 3.
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-13 W arning: Any temperature that exceeds the CPU threshold temperature predened by the CPU manufact urer may result in CPU ove rheat or system instability . When the CPU temperat ure reac hes this preden ed thres hold, th e CPU and system cooling fans will run at full speed.
4-14 X7SPT -DF-D525 User's Manual even with the CPU fan running at full speed, the system buzzer will activate and the Overheat LED will turn on. The Earl y Alarm – the Over heat LED an d system bu zzer will b e activated exactly when the High leve l is reached.
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-15 system cooling. The Performance setting is recommended for high-power-consum - ing and high-density systems. Select Balanced for the onboard fans to run at 50% of the Initial PWM Cycle in order to balance the needs between system cooling and power saving.

The options are Enabled and Disabled. APIC ACPI SCI IRQ When this item is set to Enabled, APIC A CPI SCI IRQ is supported by the system.
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-17 Clear BMC System Event Log This fe ature is used to clear the Sys tem Event Log. Caution: Any cleared information is unrecoverable. Make absolutely sure you no longer need any data stored in the log before clearing the BMC Event Log.

The options are Disabled , Reset System, Power Down, Power Cycle. BMC Watch Dog TimeOut [Min:Sec] This option appears if BMC Watch Dog Timer Action (above) is enabled .
Chapter 4: AMI BIOS 4-19 4-4 Security Settings The AMI BIOS provides a Supervisor and a User password. If you use both pass - words, the Supervisor password must be set rst. Superv isor Pa ssword This item indicates if a supervisor password has been entered for the system.
