Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup 6-1 Chapter 6 Advanced Chassis Setup This chapter covers the steps required to install components and perform mainte- nance on the SC1 16AC-R700WB chassis. For component installation, follow the steps in the order given to eliminate the most common problems encountered.

Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup 6-3 6-3 System Fans It is very important that the chassis top cover is properly installed and making a good seal in order for the cooling air to circulate properly through the chassis and cool the components. See Figure 6-2.

Chapter 6: Advanced Chassis Setup 6-5 Checking the Air fl ow Check the Air fl ow 1. Make sure there are no objects obstructing the air fl ow in and out of the server . In addition, if you are using a front bezel, make sure the bezel's fi lter is replaced periodically .

Insert the drive carrier into its bay , keeping the carrier oriented so that the hard drive is on the top of the carrier and the release button is on the right side. When the carrier reaches the rear of the bay , the release handle will retract.

Do not touch the backplane with any metal objects and make sure no ribbon cables touch the backplane or obstruct the holes, which aid in proper air fl ow .
6-8 S UPER S ERVER 1027R-WC1R/1027R-WC1R T User's Manual 6-5 Power Supply The SC1 16 chassis comes equipped with two redundant 700W -750W power sup- plies. These power supplies are auto-switching capable and automatically sense and operate at a 100v to 240v input voltage.
Chapter 7: BIOS 7-1 Chapter 7 BIOS 7-1 Introduction This chapter describes the AMI BIOS setup utility for the X9DRW -CF31/X9DRW- CTF31. It also provides the instructions on how to navigate the AMI BIOS setup utility screens. The AMI ROM BIOS is stored in a Flash EEPROM and can be easily updated.
