1 Intr oduction Congratulations! Y ou have m ade a v er y good choice with buying this T echniSat WERRA 1 car radio. This high-quality car radio has been de veloped and produced in Germany .
Medium w ave: During the day the reception quality of medium wav e stations in the lower frequency r ange is better than that of stations in the upper frequency range. In the dark, h owever , the higher medium wav e frequencies are reflected by the ionosphere and thus can generally be receiv ed in a better quality .
2 For y our o wn protection, carefully read the safety precautions bef ore star ting to use y our new de vice: Attention! According to safety regulations y ou may only operate your car radio if y ou are able to follow the current traf fic situation. Adjust the v olume only to a level that still enables you to hear acoustic signals from the outside.
3.1.2 V olume contr ol higher: - Turn the turning knob clockwise. The v olume will be increased. If the letters “CLIP“ appear on the display the “ Anti-Clipping“ function is activ ated to protect your loudspeak er s. Y ou should now reduce the v olume slightly to ena ble the amplifiers to work in their normal range again.
3.1.4 Loudness function When the v olume is low the hum an ear per ceives bass notes w orse than middle or high notes. In order to neutralize this ef fect the unit is equipped with a loudness function increasing the loudness of the bass notes electronically .
3.1.7 Security code Y our TechniSat WERRA 1 is equipped with a security code to prevent oper ation by unauthorized persons after the radio has been remo ved or disconnected from the po wer supply . The device m ay be operated again when the code number has been entered.
If y ou have entered a wrong code the de vice will switch of f after a few seconds. The message “SEC ERR“ is now sho wn on the display . Afterwar ds the code has to be re-entered. - After approx. 40 seconds the T echniSat WERRA 1 has accepted the modif ication and signalizes this with a tone.
3.2 Radio unit The T echniSat WERRA 1 is equipped with a high-quality r adio reception unit for the reception bands FM, MW , SW and L W . The f ollowing chapter descr ibes how to use these bands and the functions which are connected with them.
Calling up the stations memorized as a bov e: - Activ ate the memor y positions on which the programmes of the selected frequency r ange have been stored by means of a short push on the button.
Automatic T uning System: - Shortly push the buttons or Depending on the button pushed the frequency r ange will be searched through do wnwards or upw ards. As soon as a station has been f ound the A utomatic Tuning System will be stopped. Storing the station: - Select a progr amme memor y position ( - ) where you w ant to store the progr amme.
The T echniSat WERRA 1 is no w searching f or a station with the same progr amme type. It stops on the first station which corresponds to the selected progr amme type. If no station can be f ound within the selected programme type the station which has been selected before will be adjusted.
3.2.3 Automatic T raff ic Announcement System Many FM stations br oadcast regional traf fic announcements at f ixed times . The T echniSat WERRA 1 of fers some functions which simplify the use of these announcements: Discerning a station with Automatic Traf fic Announcement System: - “TP“ is indicated on the display .
3.2.4 RDS functions RDS (Radio Data System) displays, among other things , the follo wing additional inf or mation broadcast b y the station: - Programme name: The name is displayed upon reception. - Programme type: The type of the received pr ogramme can be called up by shortly pushing the buttons PTY or DISP .
3.2.5 Stereo/mono switching When receiving weak FM stations it can be adv antageous to switch the reception to “mono“ as follo ws: - Shortly push the button. The present setting is indicated on the display (“MONO“ or “STEREO“). - A further push on the button switches the setting.
- Push both buttons simultaneously , h oweve r , only halfw ay . The running direction changes and the other side of the cassette is played 3.3.3 Fast Forw ard/Rewind - Push the buttons or completely , depending on the direction in which the cassette shall be winded.
3.3.6 AMS (A utomatic Music Search) function When playing the cassette this function enables to wind to the beginning of the next title or to the beginning of the title which is currently r unning. H owever , the basic requirement f or this is that there are recording inter missions of at least 3 seconds between the individual titles.
Switching on the CD mode/reproducing a CD: - Shortly push the button. The message “CHANGER“ is displayed. The changer automatically inserts the f ir st CD and star ts playing it from the beginning. If there is no CD av aila ble on the first position of the mag azine the message “NO DISC“ will be displayed.
Selecting the title: Selecting next title: - Push the button to play the next title. Selecting previous title: - Push the button to play the previous title. The number of the current title appear s on the display . Displaying the running time: The running time of the title can be displayed as f ollows: - Shortly push the button.
4 Connection The T echniSat WERRA 1 is equipped with connection soc kets according to the ISO standard. In most of the car s with radio preparation the corresponding connectors are used. These are plugged into the radio together with the antenna connector , and y our T echniSat WERRA 1 can be oper ated.
