12 T elephone settings Quiet mode Y ou can turn on the q uiet mode for a peri od of time ( 1 - 1 2 hours) . Dur ing this per iod, all tones ( ex cept paging tone) and call screening are muted. When you turn on the quiet mo de, the answering system turns on automatically .
13 T elephone settings Set date and time The answering system announces t he date and time of each mess age prior to playing it. Before using the answering system, set the date and time as follows. If you subscri be to caller ID ser v ice, the day , month and t ime are set automatically with each in comin g call.

19 Make a call Using th e hand set: Press or on the hand set. When you hear a dial tone, dial the numb er . The handset shows the elapsed time as you talk (in hours, minutes and seconds). While entering numbers, press and hold PAUSE to insert a dialing pause (a P appears).

T elephone operatio n 22 T emporar y tone dial ing If you ha ve pulse ( rotar y) servi ce only , you can switch from pulse to touc h-tone dialing temporar ily during a c all. This is useful if you need to se nd touch -tone signals to acc ess your telephone ban king or long d istan ce ser v ices.
T elephone operatio n 23 Check vo icemail Press and hold 1/ on the hands et or 1 on the telephon e base to dial your stored voicemail numb er . See Voicemail number on page 15 to set your voicemail number. Find ha ndset This feature helps you nd the misp laced hand set.

36 Directory Dial a spee d dial nu mber Using th e hand set: When the ph one is not in use, press and ho ld a dialing key ( 0 or 2 - 9 ) t o dial the num ber stored in the corresp onding l ocatio n. When the speed dial location is empty, the handset shows the speed dial list.

Caller ID 38 Caller ID log If you subscri be to caller ID ser vi ce, information about eac h caller will a ppear af ter the rst or se con d ring. If you answer a call before the caller ’ s information app ears, it will not be saved in the caller ID log.
Caller ID 39 Missed call ind icator When there are calls that have not been reviewed in the caller ID log, the screens display XX missed calls . When you have reviewed all the missed calls, the missed call indicator goes away.
Caller ID 40 View dialing options Althoug h the call er ID log entries rec eived have 1 0 digits (the area cod e plus the seven-d igit number) , in some areas, you may need to dial only the seven digits, or 1 plus the seven digits, or 1 plus t he area cod e plus the seven digits.
Caller ID 41 Dial a caller ID log entry Search for the desired caller ID log entry (see R eview the c alle r ID l og on page 39) . When the d esired entr y dis plays, press or on a hands et, or o n the telephone bas e to dial.

Appendix 61 T roubleshooti ng I cannot dial out. Try all the suggestions above. Make sure you have a dial tone before dialing. The cordless handset may take a second or two to find the telephone base and produce a dial tone. This is normal. Wait an extra second before dialing.
Appendix 62 T roubleshooti ng The battery does not charge in the handset, or the handset battery does not accept charge. If the cordless handset is in the telephone base and the charge light is not on, refer to The charge light is off (page 64). Charge the battery in the cordless handset for at least 11 hours.
Appendix 63 T roubleshooti ng I experience poor sound quality when using the handset speakerphone. For increased sound quality while using the handset speakerphone, place the handset on a flat surface with the dialing keys facing up. I hear other calls while using my phone.
Appendix 64 T roubleshooti ng My calls cut in and out while I’m using my cordless handset. Other electronic products such as HAM radios and other DECT phones can cause interference with your cordless phone. Try installing your phone as far away as possible from these types of electronic devices.

Appendix 66 T roubleshooti ng The telephone does not respond to remote commands. Make sure to enter your remote access code correctly (page 53). Make sure you are calling from a touch-tone phone. When you dial a number, you should hear tones. If you hear clicks, the phone is not a touch-tone telephone and cannot activate the answering system.
Appendix 67 T roubleshooti ng I cannot retrieve voicemail messages. Your telephone has both a built-in answering system and voicemail indication. They are independent features and each alerts you to new messages differently.
