Connections ZOOM MRS-1266 15 RL MIDI IN MIDI OUT OPTICAL IN To prev ent damage to the speakers of your audio system, turn off the po wer of the system connected to the [OUTPUT] (MASTER) jacks (or turn the volume all the way do wn) before you make connections.

Installing the CD-R/RW Drive ZOOM MRS-1266 17 1. Using the four flathead scr ews supplied with the MRS-1266, attach the two supplied drive guides to the left and right side of the drive. Make sure not to attach the guide upside down. 2. Remove the drive mounting scr ews from the bottom of the MRS-1266, and remove the bottom plate.

Plug the power cable and fl at cable fr om the main unit into the r espective connectors on the CD-R/RW drive. 5. Position the CD-R/RW drive in the bay and carefully push it all the way in.
Listening to the Demo Song ZOOM MRS-1266 19 Demo song protect status The demo song on the hard disk is set to protected status, which means that le vel mixing and other settings can be changed while you play the song, b ut the changes cannot be stored on the disk.

Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 28 Step 3: Recording the first track In this step, you record the first track while listening to the rhythm song you ha ve created. 3-1 Adjusting input sensitivity and recor ding level Adjust input sensiti vity to match the instrument connected to the INPUT jack, and adjust the signal le vel to be recorded on the track.
Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 29 3-2 Setting the insert effect The MRS-1266 contains two types of ef fects: an "insert effect" that can be inserted into a specifi c signal route, and a "send/return ef fect" that can be applied to the entire song by using the send/return of the mix er .
Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 30 H INT If you want to recor d without sending the sound through the insert effect, pr ess the [BYP ASS] key from the main scr een. This will bypass the insert ef fect. When you pr ess the [BY - P ASS] key once again it will go out, and bypass will be dis- abled.
Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 31 If necessary , you can operate the DR UM/B ASS faders to adjust the volume of the rh ythm section. When you are finished adjusting the monitor le vel, press the ST OP [ P ] key to stop the rhythm song. Then press the ZER O [ U ] key to return to the beginning of the song.
Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 32 Step 4: Overdubbing In this step, you will learn ho w to record another instrument or vocals on a ne w track, while listening to the rhythm song and to the track you already recorded. Recording additional parts in this way is called "o verdubbing".
Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 33 Step 5: Mixdown When you are finished recording all tracks, you can adjust the volume le vel, panning etc. of the rhythm section and the recorded tracks section, use the send/return ef fect and insert effect, and perform other steps to create the fi nished song.
Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 34 5. Press the status key of the track whose panning you want to adjust (or the [DRUM]/[BASS] status key). The selected status ke y lights up in orange. While the track parameter menu is sho wn, the status ke y (or the cursor left/ right ke ys) can be used to select the track or drum/bass sound to be adjusted.
Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 35 5-2 Using the send/retur n effect The send/return ef fect is internally connected to the send/ return loop of the mixer . The MRS-1266 allo ws you to use two types of send/return ef fects: reverb and chorus. The follo wing diagram sho ws the signal flo w of the send/return effect.
Quick Tour ZOOM MRS-1266 36 5-3 Using the mastering effect Y ou can place the insert ef fect immediately before the [MASTER] fader and use one of the MASTERING algorithm patches to modify the dynamics or tone of the entire song. T o apply an insert ef fect to the entire song, proceed as follo ws.

Reference [Recorder] ZOOM MRS-1266 38 Using V -takes Each track 1 - 10 of the recorder contains ten virtual tracks, called "V -takes". For each track, you can select one tak e, which will be used for recording and playback.

Reference [Recorder] ZOOM MRS-1266 44 Playing the master track To play the recorded master track, proceed as follo ws. 1. From the main scr een, press the [MASTER] status key several times, until the key is lit in gr een. The unit goes into master track playback mode.
Reference [Recorder] ZOOM MRS-1266 45 Combining multiple tracks on another track (Bounce function) How bounce works "Bounce" is a function that mix es the performances of the recorder section and rhythm section (drum kit + bass program), and records them on one or two tracks.

Reference [Rhythm] ZOOM MRS-1266 86 About the rhythm section The “rhythm section” of the MRS-1266 contains drum sounds and bass sounds, and can be used as a drum + bass machine. The rh ythm section can be operated in synchronization with the recorder section, or operated independently .
Reference [Rhythm] ZOOM MRS-1266 87 Y ou can edit a portion of a rhythm pattern, or erase the entire recorded content and create an entirely original rhythm pattern. The rh ythm patterns you modify are sa ved on the hard disk together with the other rhythm patterns as part of the project.
Reference [Rhythm] ZOOM MRS-1266 88 Playing rhythm patter ns This section explains ho w to play rhythm patterns, ho w to change the tempo, and ho w to change the drum kit or bass program. Reference [Rhythm] ZOOM MRS-1266 89 4. To re turn to the main screen, pr ess the [EXIT] key . H INT The tempo you specify her e will apply to all rhythm patterns played in rhythm pattern mode, and to a rhythm song in which tempo data has not yet been input.
Reference [Rhythm] ZOOM MRS-1266 90 ● F AST (Formula Assisted Song T ranslator) This method uses simple formulas to specify rhythm pattern playback from start to end. The result is written to the rhythm song in a single operation. This method is suitable for mechanical input using a score and for frequently repeated rhythm patterns.
