NAS Syst em 30 User Manual 2.4.1 Relationship between RAID disk s, Storage Pool, Volumes, and Shares RAID di sks RAID disks are basically logical di sks created using the “Create New RAID ” button b y selecting t he phys ical disk driv es to be incl uded as RAID m ember.
NAS Syst em User Manual 31 Storage Pool The Storage Pool is a collectio n of storage devi ces, such as RAID dis k, which have be en joined to NASVG (NAS Volume Group). At least one RAID disk must b e joined to NASVG Storage Pool. After one RAID disk is joined to Storage Pool , the NASVG is initia lized and the basic NAS configuration is s etup.
NAS Syst em 32 User Manual Volum es Volumes a re logica l disks c reated from th e NASVG (NAS Volum e group). Th e NASVG total capacity will be almost equal to the capacity of a RAID disk joined to the NASVG Storage Pool. When Volume is created, th e Volume capa city will b e taken from the available capacity of the NASVG.

NAS Syst em User Manual 41 3.1.1.2 Delete RAID NOTE: Once a RAID di sk has been joined to the NA SVG Storage Pool, the RAID disk can no l onger be deleted. Once joined, the R AID disk status will be sh own as “I N_USED” wh ich means the NAS sy stem is already using the RAID disk.

NAS Syst em User Manual 49 3.1.1.6 RDX Eject Here are the steps to un-mount and eject the RDX disk cartridge. a. Select th e RDX disk and then click “Umoun t”. NOTE: In order to successfully un-m ount the RDX disk, make sure the RDX_Recorder share folder is not being used /accessed.

NAS Syst em User Manual 53 3.1.2.2 Create a Volume Steps to Create a Vo lume: 1. Click “Create Volume”. 2. In the Create New Volume dialog bo x, en ter the Volume Name and Size in MB. The Free NASVG capacity will show the availabl e capacity that can be used.
NAS Syst em 54 User Manual 3.1.2.3 Delete a Volume Steps to Delete a Volume: WARNING! Be carefu l when using this function. Make sure the data in the volume and all its share folders are no longer needed or a backup has been made before deleting the volume.
NAS Syst em User Manual 55 3.1.2.4 Extend a Volume Capacity NOTE: The capacity of a Volume can be extended many times as long as there is ava ilable free space in the NASVG. Steps to Extend a Volume: 1. Click the “Extend” button of the Volume to be extended.

If s hare will be acces sed by Mac c lients, set up the necessary options. Mac (AFP) Configur ation Options: Enable AppleTalk Shari ng – Used to enable or disable AppleTalk protocol.
