ASSEMBL Y A ssembly requires two persons. S et the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. D o not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Note: The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high-performance lubricant.
8 2. Attach two Base Pads (81) to the base of the Uprights (85) in the indicated locations with two # 8x 1" Tek Screws (82). Note : One rep lacem ent Base Pad may be included. Use the Base Pad to r eplace any Base Pad that becomes worn. 85 81 8 2 82 2 3.
9 6. Raise the Frame (55) to the position shown. Have a second person hold the Frame until this step is completed. Orient the Latch Assembly (76) so that the large barrel and the Latch Knob (50) are in the posi- tions shown. Attach the Lat ch Ass emb ly (76) to the Uprights (85 ) wi th a 3/8" x 2" Bolt (109) and a 3/8" Nut (20).
10 10. Attach the console assembly to the Uprights (85) with four Console Bolts (72) and four 3/8" Star Washers (67) (only one side is shown). Start all four Console Bolts and then tighten them. 67 72 85 Console Assembly 10 9. Remove the band securing the TV Cabl e (1 12) to the left Upright (85).
1 1 12 With the help of a second person, carefully lower the Uprights (85) to the position shown. Attach the Right Base Cover (86) with three #8 x 3/4" Screws (7) and two Base Cover Screws (63). Start all five Screws and then tighten them. Be careful not to overtighten the Screws.
12 1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. Remove the indicated #8 x 3/4" Screws (7) from the back of the Console Base (98). 2. While a second person holds the Console (105), connect the wire on the receiver (A) to the indi- cated wire extending from the Console.
13 H OW TO CONNECT A 75 OHM CATV CABLE 1 . Connect a 75 ohm CATV cable to the 75 ohm terminal on the treadmill frame near uprights. HOW TO CONNECT AN EXTERNAL SOURCE USING A CATV CABLE 1. Connect one end of a 75 ohm CATV cable to the 75 ohm output jack on your external source.
OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking b elt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
15 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjoyable. You can ch ange t he spe ed and in- cline of the treadmill with the touch of a button. As you exercise, the screen will display continuous exercise feedback.
16 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER I MPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- p erature before turning on the power. If you do not do this, the console displays or other electrical components may become damaged.
17 6. Select a display mode and follow your progress with the exercise information on the s creen. A s you walk or run on the treadmill, the screen can display the following exercise information: • The elapsed time. Note: When a program is se- lected, the screen will show the time remaining in the program instead of the elapsed time.

19 HOW TO USE A PULSE PROGRAM Follow the steps below to use a pulse program. 1. Put on the optional chest pulse sensor. Note: You must wear the optional chest pulse sen- sor to use a pulse program. See page 26 for more information on the optional chest pulse sensor.
20 During each segment of the program, the console will compare your heart rate to the target heart r ate setting for that segment. If your heart rate is too far below or above the target heart rate set- t ing, the speed and/or incline will automatically in- crease or decrease to bring your heart rate closer to the target heart rate setting.

24 HOW TO OPERATE THE PERSONAL TELEVISION I MPORTANT: Before operating the television, you must connect a 75 ohm CATV cable to the 75 ohm t erminal on the treadmill, a VCR or DVD player to the audio/video input jack, or a personal audio/video player to the audio/video jack below the television on the console.
25 THE INFORMATION MODE T he console features an information mode that allows you to view treadmill usage information, select a sys- t em of measurement for the console, and turn on and turn off the demo mode. The information mode also al- lows you to adjust the settings of the television and to save channels into the television’s memory.
26 5. Press the Power button again and save chan- nels into the television’s memory. When the Power button is pressed, the television w ill begin scanning all of the channels available in your area. When no cable signal is detected on a channel, the channel will be skipped.
27 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL H OW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If you do not do this, you may damage the treadmill when you fold it. Remove the key and unplug the pow er cord.
28 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Note: To release the latch knob, it may be necessary to push the frame for- ward as you pull the latch knob to the left.
29 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
30 Raise the Uprights (85) to the vertical position. Remove the three #8 x 3/4" Screws (7) from the Hood ( 33), and carefully pivot the Hood off. Locate the Reed Switch (22) and the Magnet (18) on the left side of the Pulley (17). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
31 b. If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD . Using t he hex key, turn both rear roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, y ou should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 3 to 4 in.
32 These guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For detailed exercise information, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. Remember, proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
33 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1 . Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
