A. Kickback Safety Precautions ! Warn ing ! Kickback may occ ur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Tip contact in some cases may cause a lightning fast reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the operator.

Making sapwoo d cuts • • • • For medium sized or larg er tre es make cu ts at both sides of the trunk, • • • • at sam e heig ht as su bseque nt fellin g cut. • • • • Cut to no more than width of gui de bar. This is espe cially impor tant in soft wood in summer - it help s prevent sapw ood spli ntering when t he tree falls.

First , cut a large , wide fell ing notc h. Make a pl unge cut in th e center of the notc h. The pl unge c ut is made wi th the g uide bar n ose. Be gin th e plunge cut b y applyi ng the lower p ortion of the g uide bar nose to the tree at a n angle. Cut un til the depth of the kerf is about the same as the wid th of the guid e bar.

The car buretor does not hav e a high speed ad justing sc rew (H scr ew) but is design ed to provi de an opti mum fuel- air mixtu re unde r all ope rating condit ions. The maxi mum engine speed spec ified for mac hines w ith a conven tional carbu retor does not apply to this vers ion.
